So to get back up to speed...

09 is done unless someone comes on the board late

10 is waiting on Payne and if goes elsewhere we move on to...
:) No. Since Orton committed to Kentucky we have no room since our 7' transfer from UAB will sit out this season.

With regard to 10, I have heard no one else but Payne. So if we do not get him I have no idea where they will go for a big man. Possibly junior-college but I don't think so.

Does being out for 09 include the possibility of Mullens or Buford going pro?

Matta doesn't seem afraid though to pull a JUCO out of his back pocket late if the situation presents itself
He cannot take six in 2009 because then he would have to leave out Payne. There is a thread showing the numbers of scholarships available and to they have been given out. I don't know if Buford will leave early or not. Some guys think so but there hasn't been much activity over here since you left me stranded:biggrin:

09 is done...

10' is Payne right now...There are probably some other guys that might be on the backburner, because I would think that we would have to take another big...

The staff has moved onto the 11', 12' classes and they have been hosting guys the past couple weekends at the football games...I am sure Junkie' will get threads on them if there aren't already when he gets time...

So someone goes pro/transfers unexpectedly no JUCO on the back burner?

I don't think they are unprepared but I don't think it is the focus right now.....

Brandan Kearney is one to keep an eye on.........also J.D. Weatherspoon......

We don't seem to get involved with JUCOs early typically anyway. I guess Mathis and Nealy were '09 JUCOs mentioned at one point but I think that was before they went with Zisis. IMO, they signed him INSTEAD of a lower-level 09 h.s. or JUCO big as they felt he was a better option and has the size they wanted/needed in the wake of losing BJM. I think they are done with '09 as they want to use BJM's ship in '10 instead. With everyone else expected to be back ( slight chance that Turner and / or Buford also leave ), I don't know what other spot you'd be willing to use that ship on. You're replacing BJM with Zisis at C ( hoping that Dallas' steps up to starter there and Zisis can be a good backup ). What other spot is needed and how would it effect the '10 class? I think they have shut it down!

'10 I am not sure about. We have five commits and want Payne badly to be six and that seems like its the number. But Weatherspoon was recently hosted and while not offered was not totally ruled out yet either. Is he "strictly" insurance if Payne opts elsewhere? Would they look at a 7th recruit in that class? ( Turner is likely gone might they presume Buford is by then as well ) Pe'Shon Howard recently still listed us as well. Could they still be contemplating a "PG" with a 7th ship, despite the Smith commit and wanting Teague in '11 so badly? Could they use it on Weatherspoon even if Payne does become he 6th commitment?

'11 and '12 are just coming into focus. Losing Behanan hurt but we may be looking out of state more in '11 now besides a couple bigs in Price (offered) and Honigford.

I'm kind of hoping the '08 class ENDS the JUCO and XFER train for a long while. It is much preferable to fill the roster with h.s. blue chippers and not have to take risks on older players to plug holes so often. It looks like they are looking to keep the roster filled at a full 12-13 for the foreseeable future, so they don't have to "reach" every year. Good news to me.

Turner is likely gone

I might be in the minority amongst the basketball posters but I do not think that Turner will leave after this season. I still think there is a lot of room for improvement.

Buford might be gone and that one has to happen in order for us to take 7 guys if you would include Payne and Weatherspoon. I do not like taking 7 guys in one class because that really hurts recruiting for the next two years IMO

Tony better not fail TV. Turner isn't going anywhere after this year.

What's the deal on the kid from Ghana Stevie Taylor. Someone can help me out here but wasn't he at one time a top 5 kid in his grade level in junior high?

Gahanna Ohio please:biggrin: From what I read, he is only about 5'8" and Ohio State has shown a little interest but not much. He is going to have to have a growth spurt in order to be offered by Ohio State which is possible. He is a very skilled player and awfully quick. He has visitedSt. Joseph's about a month ago.
