Not to put too much emphasis on the ratings, but since he came to OSU Matta has recruited the following ranked players:

#1, 2, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 28, 31, 59, 65, 85 and 93.
Is that all ? dayum he better stop screwing around then and start some real recruiting. :tongue2:

2009 class is a complete unknown at this point........Sidney has stated tOSU was his leader but he rarely says anything, so who knows. Adding a top flight guard would be key in this class, but who? Boynton could be a PG and SG, but it will be hard to get him. John Wall is a possiblity. Forget about Cheek.

2010 class only needs a big man at this point and it is early, so the staff has plenty of time to target numerous prospects.

If we do get Jones for 2008 and you put Hill back in 2009-10 that gives us 11 scholarship players for that year.

I hope that I'm not putting this in the wrong thread because I don't want to start another Buford thread but do you really see him leaving after two years? Do you compare him to Cook at the same time of both of their high school careers.

I really don't see John Wall leaving the state of North Carolina but stranger things have happened.

Sorry I forgot this but if we do get Jones in 2008 that bumps all of the scholarship players up 1 per year.
My only concern about having all these one and done players is lack of continuity in our program and the APR. I know it is nice to be good but hopefully the APR will never catch up to us.

You forgot to put Hill as a Sr. for the 2009-2010 class. I think McDonald should also be considered for the SG in 2009.

Good catch....fixed.

I think McDonald should also be considered for the SG in 2009.

He is being considered, I just didn't list him.

If Jones comes aboard, you are correct, we will have 11 scholies.

To be honest with you, I am leaning towards him leaving after one year, but just to be safe, I put him leaving after 2. He is better than Cook in my opinion.

I agree on Buford, but I see him here 2 years, maybe that is wishful thinking, but IMO with all the talent we will have here, it might be difficult for him to show that he is lottery pick ready for the NBA.

I agree on Sidney being hard to read, and also who else we might take in that class...

I know we can't keep all these guys for their whole career, but if we could no one would touch us...

Regarding Buford, hopefully he will look at what happened to Cook after one year and decide she would be much better saying for two... maybe that is wishful thinking.

Disagree. I think Mullens + KK + crew = National Championship... more wishful thinking.

You really think we keep Lighty for 4 years? I think that is quite ambitious.
While David is a tremendous athlete, I do not think you will be a prolific scorer in our system and he does not have the showmanship qualities of Cook hence I think he will be here for 4 years. There are some people who think he might only average over a little over 10 points per game this season. Playing great defense does not care you into the NBA.:)

We can only dream......maybe KK and Mullens will have a chance to play together......in my dreams.:wink2:

I would have loved to have seen the Thad Five+ Koufos and crew play North Carolina with Brandon Wright and the guys that stayed for Carolina. I think it would have been one of the most hyped college basketball games in the last 20 years. We would have had it here in columbus! Of course, Carolina wouldn't have stood a chance. No one would have against that lineup. This years game will still be fun, though.

BUCKEYES GOING YOUNG, BUCKNELL WAITING FOR MASTROPAOLO
Oct 22, 2007 | 8:49AM | report this

BUCKEYES YOUTH MOVEMENT

Ohio State coach Thad Matta and his staff have already assembled one of the top recruiting classes in the country for the Class of 2008.

Seven-footer B.J. Mullens is one of the top players in the country. Wing William Buford could be a pro. Anthony Crater has returned to the form that made him one of the top point guards in the class and Walter Offutt, who has been committed to the Buckeyes for what seems like an eternity, will be a solid player as well.

Because the staff was able to wrap up the senior class so early, Matta and his assistants (John Groce, Archie Miller and Alan Major) have been able to evaluate younger kids.
