OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Walker to me makes a lot of sense for OSU. Ideally, you want to tee it up for Dom to be able to come in and his first year have a senior to share the load with, then take over as a sophomore. I don't think getting a PG in the 19 class is the best timing for Dom, and then future guards like Meechie as well. A 2-year transfer that plays 2020 & 21 would be perfect to add experience, leadership, class balance and help recruit future classes.

Sidenote: Googling "CJ Walker" produced a very unexpected result.
Madam? Adding "Indianapolis" doesn't help much either as we have a theatre named in her honor downtown.

washington state's sophomore starting point gaurd malachi flynn just announced he's transferring. averaged 10 as a freshman and 16 as a sophomore on good overall numbers. pedon just started following him. flynn's from tacoma and wasn't originally offered by ho1tmann at butler, so sincere interest in osu would surprise me.

I want Keyshawn Woods Previously mentioned by @OSU_Buckguy
Keyshawn Woods, G, Wake Forest
Height, weight:
6-foot-3, 205 pounds.

2017-18 stats: 11.9 points per game; 2.5 rebounds per game; 1.9 assists per game; 43.9 field goal percentage; 37.4 3-point field goal percentage; 84.5 free throw percentage.

Career stats: 10.9 points per game; 3.1 rebounds per game; 2.2 assists per game; 47.4 field goal percentage; 42.5 3-point field goal percentage; 77.5 free throw percentage.

Woods only started five games last season, but was productive in doing so. He's averaged double-figures each of the last two seasons, and had a more productive season (12.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 49.5 FG%) two years ago when he started 22 games and averaged five more minutes per game than he did last year. So he can handle the increased role he'd have at Ohio State. For Woods, the question is will he grad transfer or pursue a pro career. If it's transfer, he's a fit on the floor for what the Buckeyes are looking for.

Ohio State basketball grad transfer tracker: Potential targets for the Buckeyes

Cheddi Mosely, G, Boston University

Update (March 29): Ohio State did reach out to Mosely, but I've been told the Buckeyes are looking at other guard options. Per Greg Levinsky, Mosely is focusing on Wake Forest and St. Bonaventure.
Tariq Owens, F, St. John's

Update (March 29): Owens has trimmed his list again, and Ohio State has been removed from consideration. Per Scout's Evan Daniels, he's down to Maryland, Texas Tech and Western Kentucky.
Ryan Taylor, G, Evansville

Update (March 29): I've been told that Ohio State has been removed from consideration for Taylor.
Aaron Calixte, G, Maine

Update (March 29): Have not heard anything regarding Ohio State's interest in Calixte, but that the Buckeyes have not reached out yet to a player who's been a known transfer for awhile should be telling. Calixte will reportedly visit Oklahoma, and has heard from Temple.
Ryan Luther, F, Pittsburgh

Update (March 29): The more I'm able to gather information on what exactly Ohio State is looking for. I'd be surprised if they went in the direction of a power forward. So Luther probably makes less sense than others, and it's unclear what Luther might do now that Pitt has hired former Duke assistant Jeff Capel as head coach.

the aforementioned players were just the ones updated today. other grad transfer targets are listed in the article. like with litl, woods is the one that piques my interest and -- along with taylor -- the transfer i'd consider a home run. anyway, the obvious takeaway is that we're likely no longer in it for taylor, which is disappointing.

pedon now following ehab amin, a 6'4" guard from tamu-corpus christi who redshirted last season due to injury. announced the grad transfer yesterday. averaged 16.9 points, (72% from the line, 29% behind the arc), 6.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 3.4 steals, and and 2.8 turnovers for 2016-17. as a freshman and sophomore, he did nothing against teams with a pulse, but he did have good numbers against tamu, st. mary's, and oksu as a junior, including 9 combined steals. in fact, he led the nation in steals that season, so those numbers against good teams probably weren't a fluke.

amin is from egypt and attended a military academy in wisconsin for his senior season, which he missed due to injury, so my guess is he's pretty open to playing in any region.
