Where's all the stories about how "All is Right in the World" now that USC is back at #1? I got sick of hearing about how it was a "controversy" that Texas had "taken" #1 from USC. What's the definition of "controversy," anyway? Is it a controversy simply because the results of the poll aren't the way that people wanted them to be?

And I can't wait to hear how "the computers don't know anything" because of they way they've "screwed up" the polls. (Talking about how Notre Dame drops to #14 because of the computer polls.)

Well, remember Zurp, the BCS was put in place to attempt to try and calm concerns of voter bias.

I'm like you, I don't know why people think the BCS is screwed up because it disagrees with what the previously held to be unreliable voters think. The BCS is screwed up, but for other reasons. Like it being a fundementally ridiculous idea.

The BCS was put in place to attempt to prevent split champions. It had nothing to do with voter bias. In fact, the original BCS plan called for just using the two human polls. Only after the AP poll objected that they added computers.

Not how I remember it. But, it's 5:00 and I'm gonna bail. If you're right, you're right, but I recall people saying voter bias was why we needed another system.

Not true, the normal tie-breaking rules still apply.

http://bigten.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/103105aad.html

The BCS rankings will be announced each Monday through Nov. 28 and the final BCS poll will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 4. The teams ranked No. 1 and 2 in the final BCS standings will meet for the national championship in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 4. If a Big Ten team is not ranked No. 1 or 2 in the final BCS poll, the conference champion (or co-champion as designated by the Big Ten tie-breaking procedures) will play in the Fiesta, Orange or Sugar Bowl.

here is something quite interesting!... (a loophole)

Bowl Championship Series (BCS) - Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta Bowls. In the event the Conference football champion or co-champion has a No. 1 or 2 ranking in the Bowl Championship Series poll, the Conference champion or co-champion shall participate in the BCS national championship game. If two or more teams are tied for the Conference championship, and one of the tied teams is ranked No. 1 or No. 2 in the BCS poll, that team shall participate in the BCS national championship game, and the other team(s) will be available for selection as an at-large team in the BCS pool. In years that the Rose Bowl hosts the national championship game and the Conference champion is not ranked No. 1 or No. 2, the champion or co-champion will be available for selection by the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, or other bowls designated for inclusion in the BCS. If the champion or co-champion is not ranked No. 1 or 2, that team shall participate in the Rose Bowl in years when the Rose Bowl is not hosting the national championship game as follows:
(then follows the tiebreakers)

Here!... re-read

In years that the Rose Bowl hosts the national championship game and the Conference champion is not ranked No. 1 or No. 2, the champion or co-champion will be available for selection by the Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, or other bowls designated for inclusion in the BCS.

Note: The Rose Bowl is hosting. It does in no way state WHO is the Conference champion, unless the Rose Bowl is the venue. So under that ruling, The BCS could coose ANY Co-Champion, as it chooses.

Very nice to see you guys climbing in the BCS. I watched a bit of your game on Saturday, got to see the Ginn KR/TD, I think the announcer stated that he had a touchdown when he was at your own 40.

These next few weeks are when all the crazy sh** goes down in the BCS, and teams get shocked. There are a lot of potentials. Stanford is playing good and they play USC before they play ND. ND HAS to worry about that game.

VaTech is known for its ability to lay an egg at some point during this time of the season, and it could even be against NC instead of miami. And who the hell knows about UCLA. UCLA-USC will be about 0-0 at halftime, and then end up 77-70 with UCLA scoring all 70 of their points in the 4th quarter. USC also has a game against Fresno State, who is better than half the Pac-10. Florida State has Florida and possibly a ACC championship game. Miami has VaTech and GaTech. Lots of possibilities, should be a fun few weeks to follow.

Oklahoma, while its nice to see them helping out by making us look better, I don't give a rat's ass who they lost to, considering they were blown out by Texas, handled soundly by UCLA and TCU, and were taken to OT by Baylor. Their big wins were against the struggling KState, the struggling Nebraska, Baylor, Tulsa and Kansas????? How in the world do you get a BCS ranking for beating that crew?????

Oh well, as always, best of luck to you guys over this next stretch.

I used to think the same thing, but after I saw Minnesota carve up your defense with it's passing game I now have hope.

Evidently you took a nap from early in the second quarter until the end of the game. Minnesota moved the ball at will for their first four drives (271 yards and 17 points), but their next eight drives (from around 7:00 of the second quarter until the last minute or so of the game) resulted in 194 yards and seven points. They got their final TD against our second-stringers playing a soft prevent.

Chief, we deliberately put Youboty on an island so that our safties could key on Maroney and company, and to Mason and Cupito's credit, they took advantage of it -- for a little while.

ND's running game isn't quite so dominant, so you won't have to worry about that. If the Domers are unlucky enough to draw OSU in a bowl game, Brady Quinn will spend more time on his back than a Russian whore in Amsterdam...just ask Drew Stanton.

You guys DO remember Michigan State, right? They're the guys who planted their flag on your 50 yard line. :tongue2: We beat them, by the way.

Sorry but OSU does not scare me one bit. You guys are a riot, a few weeks ago you all were crying in your beer and now you win a game or two and all the sudden your team is great again. Didn't Purdue give Minnesota a good game?

There is talk of a ND vs OSU Orange Bowl! A real possibility! That, would be a tough ticket to get! Would sell out before it was announced.

I just want to play in Florida, in front of the best high school talent in the south! :pimp:
