Advice for me not getting pissed at somebody for representing my behavior on the board in a way I consider far from accurate. I wouldn't try attributing some negative behavior to "you all" on an ND board, and if anyone did, I would expect them to get called on it.

And the suggestion was to let you know that others may very well feel the same way. I believe "most" or "many" would have been a better choice, yes.

But now you've also called me "a little picky". But that is at least only directed at me. You didn't call "everyone" picky, so that's progress. :wink2:

Better put this out for all to see! Sorry Bill I was wrong as I thought you were playing the Moderator card. Sorry....

Well back on topic - NDChief do you believe the computers have ND fairly ranked? And, regardless of your opinion of their ranking on the computers, what about the remainder of NDs's schedule affords them the opportunity to improve that computer ranking?
HOME ADVANTAGE= 2.37 RATING W L SCHEDL(RANK) VS top 10 | VS top 30 | ELO-CHESS | PREDICTOR
1 Texas A = 101.13 8 0 73.55( 33) 2 0 | 4 0 | 102.44 1 | 99.44 2
2 Southern California A = 100.99 8 0 74.66( 25) 2 0 | 3 0 | 99.74 2 | 101.64 1
3 Virginia Tech A = 96.52 8 0 72.41( 43) 0 0 | 2 0 | 99.09 3 | 93.98 4
4 Ohio State A = 92.16 6 2 81.20( 1) 0 2 | 3 2 | 90.69 7 | 93.07 5
5 Penn State A = 92.06 8 1 77.04( 11) 1 1 | 3 1 | 92.39 5 | 91.12 6
6 Notre Dame A = 89.57 5 2 80.18( 4) 1 1 | 1 2 | 85.27 19 | 95.03 3
7 Texas Tech A = 88.23 7 1 65.16( 97) 0 1 | 0 1 | 89.33 10 | 86.63 8
8 Oregon A = 88.20 7 1 75.55( 15) 0 1 | 2 1 | 89.59 9 | 86.36 9
9 Michigan A = 87.78 6 3 80.90( 2) 1 1 | 4 3 | 86.86 14 | 88.04 7
10 Miami-Florida A = 87.64 6 1 71.75( 48) 0 0 | 1 1 | 89.01 11 | 85.82 12

I bet NDC loves the Predictor rankings.

I just don't know! While I think ND can play toe to toe with about anyone I also am not convinced that they are a top ranked team at this point. Michigan State is a good example of that. If ND played the whole game like they did the second half ND would have beat MSU by 30 points but ND stunk in the first half. I see an excellent offense and a questionable defense and after the last 10 years well .......

As for the computers, all they see is that ND lost to MSU and USC they dont know how either game could have been a win.
If MSU had played the whole game like they did in the first half they would have beaten ND by well over 30, but MSU stunk in the second half. Good argument. :shake:

Chief, many of the computer models include a lot more data than just wins and losses. Offensive and defensive yardage, passing versus rushing offense and defense, etc.

On average, ND is rated 13th by the computers at mrating.com. So, it isn't rated so lowly by all of the computer rankings and it isn't rated where it is because of points alone. It will continue to fall because its SOS, with the remaining teams showing a combined 12-17, an average rating of about 60th place (Tenn at 36 and Stanford at 41, Navy 71 and Syracuse 104), and nothing to gain from running up the score because already the team is overrated.

Ohio State's opponents are 13-12, but two TSUN (16) and Northwestern (27) will improve the current SOS and are better than ND's highest rated opponent. Illinois is still in the 80s.

So, the potential is that Tennessee or Stanford look good against ND and it hurts their human and computer poll performance. My guess is that Ohio State will end up with a SOS at about #3-4 and Notre Dame will drop to the low teens or early 20s.

You are right but all ND can do is win out and then see what happens. ND-OSU would be awesome!! Think about ND's offense trying to move the ball against your defense. What a chess match that would be. I for one wouldn't want to bet my house on either team. I do find it funny how so many around here think OSU would kill ND. I don't see that happening...

Great defense will beat great offense every time. I think we proved that last Saturday.
