Orioles 2012 thread of pain and despair....

A rare opportunity for the Pirates and Orioles to go at it always brings back memories. Both teams are doing surprisingly well this season, so far.

After Colorado released Jaime Moyer, the O's picked him up and sent him to AAA. They released him last week. I can't imagine him getting another shot with anyone. So at 49 he is out of the league entirely with 269 wins and 2441 strikeouts even though he rarely threw hard enough to get a speeding ticket on a highway in most states.

Seems like the type of player the Indians would pick up......

I'm going to Baltimore next weekend, going to try to make it to an O's while I'm out there. I guess I don't get enough misery following the Reds and the Browns.

Well they have somehow won 5 in a row.

When .500 is the goal, being 7 games over near the end of July looks like heaven

30 more wins! 30 more wins!! :smash:

Aberdeen, Maryland (CNN) -- The man who abducted the mother of Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken Jr. from her Maryland home restrained the woman and appeared to have used her credit cards, a law enforcement official said Wednesday.
But officials in Aberdeen, Maryland, say they are still looking for motives in the case and haven't found evidence of ransom demands for Violet Ripken, the mother of one of baseball's most celebrated players.
Ripken, 74, was safe and resting with relatives Wednesday after a nearly daylong ordeal, authorities said.
Police in Aberdeen said a man with a gun showed up at her home between 7 and 8 a.m. Tuesday, then forced her into her vehicle and drove off.
About 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Baltimore County police contacted their counterparts in Aberdeen to discuss a report of a suspicious vehicle. Information from that call led to the investigation of Ripken's whereabouts.
She was found unharmed about 6:15 a.m. Wednesday in her vehicle near her home, police said.

Thank God she's safe....that's just absolutely insane.

August 16th.

64-53 and in sole possession of the 1st wild card spot by at least a full game (tampa is 63-54 and detroit is 63-55).

I'm afraid to say anything else. The Mayans may have been correct....
