Oregon at tOSU, Sep 11th, Noon ET on Fox

Caught the replay on Fox. I feel way better about the offense now. I’m honestly not sure why people are getting on Stroud. Yeah he missed some throws like all QBs do, but he was either let down by the WRs or refs refused to call blatant PI. Olave straight up drops a ball that would’ve been 1st and goal at worst, Wilson drops a ball that would’ve kept a drive alive, Ruckert drops a ball that would’ve been 1st and goal from like the 3 or something, and one more I’m forgetting. Two blatant PIs by Ruckert and Olave’s man should’ve been 1st and Goal to go. Would’ve like to see a little more of the run game but Oregon had enough success stopping it that. CJ did miss Wilson and Olave deep a couple. Overall though I still thought he played great for it being his second start. OSU offense played well enough to drop 50+ on a defense that’s still probably Top 20 without Flowe or Thibbs.

Defense was a disaster and I have way less confidence there. What’s disconcerting is many times there straight up wasn’t a man within 5 yards of a ball carrier. Like you could put Bama’s players out there and they’d still give up the same number of points yardage. CBs looked like the best unit on the field to my amateur eyes though. Good coverage all game except for one instance I believe. Dline looked the worst. Was getting pushed around all game. LBs and Safety’s I can’t tell since the base defense had them out of position all game. Hard to tell if there’s a talent issue there.

Overall I feel confident in Stroud and the offense going forward. Not so much with the defense.

Ok, so… by my count… last three years we have exactly three losses. Two in CFB Playoffs and one regular season loss.

Let’s get some perspective.

Nobody is happy with the outcome. But rest assured, there’s nobody on BP who is anywhere near as unhappy as the guys showing up to the WHAC to watch film on Sunday.

Call for heads of coaches or players if you like, the two guys who make that decision neither give a fig about your opinions nor do they participate on BP. Even if those of you / us (that’s me included) who want some changes, it ain’t happening because we bitch about it… and it sure as shit ain’t happening until the end of the season…

So, if you can’t get over that, my only advice is to buckle up butter cup, it may be a bumpy ride this year.

Only thing I would have like to see today on Offense that we didnt, was a series by Teague. The other two ran fine and had a couple nice runs but today was a Teague kinda day. Hit the hole hard and go North-South. There was no East-West to run and a series or two of Teague punishing North-South makes the Defense flinch. Didnt have enough plays to make them flinch today especially if Stroud wasnt going to keep on RPO. Probably went to Henderson a bit too soon and got enamored with his big play potential. Soften the D up then let the lightning strike and keep your QB settled. Just my .02

Oh and very much dislike when people say Teague doesnt bring homerun potential when dude is crazy fast in the open just doesnt have the wiggle sometimes to get to the open and miss a shoestring tackle or two.

If we survived ‘18, we’ll survive this. No matter how frustrating the defense will get the rest of the season, just remember where those LB’s were lined up once upon a time.

Pass defense caused more than enough angst last year, this is nothing new.

Unfortunately we’ve been spoiled, Fields while was a Soph when he came in had some experience and was clearly on a different level. Haskins was a Junior when he started… last time we had a RS Fresh start was … Barrett right?

also unfortunately is you got places pushing agendas (no one here just saying out in the swamps of the internet) like a kid that has been on campus for maybe a month and already has some crazy NIL deals…
Stroud also doesn’t get the benefit of having terrible P5 opponents like Oregon State or Rutgers as tune up games. Or FAU and Cincinatti for that matter.

I made a huge mistake and went over to Bucknuts. My God, what a bunch of knee-jerk fucktards. Some are laying all the blame on Stroud. Many are throwing childish hissy fits. Man.
Can only image all the nuggets the wisemen are spreading over at Scoop… I’m gonna guess its something along the lines of “this is just the excuse Day needs to start Ewers, here lets ask Mr. Ewers his thoughts on this”

How does it feel, this one time, to not have ruined the internet today (first)

Have to say I agree with all of that article, except for moving Cam Brown to safety if necessary. I think when Banks returns we'll have 3 above average to possibly good cover guys and Nickel with a rolled up Safety in a LB might save these guys. Could also go Cover 2 with Brown or Banks on a TE I guess and blitz from every direction possible. I would at this point. Blitz like hell when they get healthy and see if the DL can unfuck themselves

I agree with everything you said but for two years the coaches have blown smoke up the worlds ass for Harrison and the pass rush. Don’t want criticism just say our D and pass rush is a work in progress. Oregon’s coaches saw a weakness at end for us and exploited them and the lbs.
