Oregon 8 at Boise St 19 (Final)

6 teams.

Indiana and Eastern Kentucky was painful to watch as well.

Ball state was pretty horrible as well, the few minutes of that I caught, and Temple gets special anti-props for losing to I-AA Villanova. So it was pretty much a goner all night. Kent State did beat Carolina by a shutout...Coastal Carolina that is :banger:

just wanted to point out that Penn State played we-got-shut-out-by-kent-state Coastal Carolina last year and is playing we-lost-to-a-I-AA-team Temple this year

pathetic

Yeah, I have to say--the punch was too much, but it clearly was not entirely unprovoked. The BSU player thumped Blount on the shoulder pad and said something...could have been "good game" for all we know, but he just lost. Leave him alone.

And as far as the fans go, [censored] 'em. Just like Blount is expected to keep his emotions in check before and after the whistle, I expect fans to as well. Scream your face off during the game--not a problem for me. But don't incite the guy when he's clearly incensed. These are the same idiots who get mauled at zoos for screwing around next to the lion exhibit. I'm happy for Blount's sake that he was able to be restrained, as getting a hold of a fan would have spelled the end of his career. Still, I would much rather have seen the fan get drilled in the face than the BSU player.

My girlfriend sent me the youtube video of it this morning, and she couldn't understand how Blount could have reacted so severely. I explained that she's never experienced that level of frustration, and neither have I. I can't imagine what I'd be capable of if anything meant as much to me as football probably does to Blount.

Finally, I've seen it described as a 'sucker punch'. Pretty unfair categorization. The punchee ran up and initiated conversation. Blount answered with a fist to the guy's face. Overreaction? Certainly. Sucker punch, not at all.

I agree with most of what you've said, but if a fan wants to scream his head off, that's his/her perogative. You can't go after them for words. Verbal assaults do not justify anything physical. Granted, I'm biased as I have been known to absolutely crucify referees BEFORE the game and end with "and that's for the bad calls your GONNA make." but I just don't think you can accept the going after someone for taunting. As others have noted, if you did that outside of a stadium, you'd end up in jail.

Back to the game...horrible. Just horrible and the fact that it followed the NCST/SouthCar tilt made it all the worse. Football was supposed to officially kick off last night. It didn't.

I'm a little hazy on it, but late in 2007, didn't tOSU play somebody that had lost to a 1-AA (FCS) team earlier that year?

Hell Temple should get props for hanging in there with a superior Villanova team (as my friend from Philly told me this morning  )

Anyway, I'd forgotten about the Ball State game.

I didn't even know that 'Nova had a football team until I drove past their stadium a few years ago. I think Brian Westbrook went there.

Boise player = bad sportsmanship
Oregon player = felonious assault

These are not offsetting penalties.

Boise dude should have been chewed out by his coach and wind sprinted until puking occurs. Now that the episode has blown up, he should sit a game.

Blount should have felony charges filed against him by the Boise DA's office.
