Is there a chance this game hurt Boise's chances at the BCS? You can't make this many mistakes in your only challenge of the year (and not a very tough one at that) and expect people to respect you.

Depends. If, BIG IF, Oregon salvages their season, I think this win will be considered impressive despite all the gaffes. They can also make up for it by gaining some style points with big wins (score wise). Boise State is a bit of a media darling since that Fiesta Bowl win, so I think the press will be forgiving.

As for Oregon, I really don't see how this season doesn't go in the tank. That pathetic display after the game probably just cost them their star RB for several games, if not the year. I'm thinking the year considering he had issues during the offseason.

certainly not excusing the punch, but it wasn't a sucker punch.....dude clearly came over to talk [censored], hit Blount on the shoulder pad, mouthed off, Coach Peterson got in his own players face to tell him to knock it off, but Blount had already laid him out.

Again, doesn't make the situation any better, and Blount should be gone for the year, but the BSU player isn't some innocent bystander. He ran his mouth, made contact with him, and got laid out real quick....

*when I think sucker punch, I think of someone punching another person when they aren't looking. The BSU linebacker was running his mouth and looking directly at Blount as he got punched. Again, not trying to excuse the behavior.

I agree with your definition. And the Boise St. player did tap him near the shoulder and said something (presumably trash talk) to Blount. But the guy had turned away from Blount almost 90 degrees (because Petersen intervened) and wasn't looking at Blount when he got hit.
