Game Thread Orange Bowl: tOSU vs Clemson, Jan 3, 8:30 ET, ESPN

Final prediction: Clemson 49 OSU 38. Not trying to be a negative Nancy but I will be pleasantly surprised to see it go all that well for us. We will score enough to keep it close and Clemson pulls away in the 4th.

The last time I felt this way before a bowl game was the Arky game. I felt that while the Bucks will put up a good fight, in the end the other team will find a way through and win it.

Well we know how the Arky game turned out (I don't care what the NCAA says, Ohio State won the game). Therefore - while I see Ohio State moving the ball well, especially in the first half, the only way this defense stops Clemson is if Clemson stops itself. I just don't see anything in this year's performances that show any hope for the defensive backfield with or without Roby.

Offensively this team is more than fine. Defensively, this team is a year and a revamped defense away from being a true National Title contender.

Clemson 52

Ohio State 31

It will get really ugly in the 2nd half when desperation sinks in and Ohio State can't run the ball anymore.

It has happened to teams besides the one we root for that they show up flat for some inexplicable reason. Teams also sometimes shoot themselves in the foot. It's not a satisfying way to win, or by any means a long-term solution, but I'd take it.

I haven't felt great about this game since well, for a while. Had mixed feelings at the thought of them making it to the NC unless they were going to be capable of winning it.

Some people I've talked to today are supremely confident in a win. I'm hoping they are more intuitive than I am about this one. (I"m a negative nellie by nature.)

Go Bucks! O - H

IMO the Buckeyes have done everything possible to lose the past 2 games. Bad penalties, turnovers, defensive breakdowns, lack of receiver production, one dimensional offense...basic definition of shooting themselves in the foot.

Hopefully bowl practice has reset their self destruction clock. I think Ohio State exploits Clemson's D, but I think Clemson will exploit Ohio State's more. Unless the defensive side of the ball was graced by the hands of the football gods, Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins, and Chad Morris will do bad, bad things to them.

Clemson: 49
Ohio State 38

Regardless of the outcome it's a bittersweet day for me. This group of seniors have been through so much, have stuck it out, and have been fantastic representatives of the university. They had a chance to leave when the tough got going, but rose up and pushed through the adversity. It will be tough to see the OL, Carlos, Christian, Philly, Roby, CJ, probably Shazier and maybe Brax etc play their last game in an OSU uniform. Regardless of the outcome, and I think we come out and give them a beat down, I will be proud of the team. They've given us a hell of a ride, lets hope they finish it in style!!

OSU- 38
Clemson- 20

The reason why Arkansas made a second half comeback to make it close is Tressel took his foot off the gas and wrapped up the offense in a blanket...that won't happen with Meyer should we jump out to a big lead, especially with how this defense has been playing lately. NC State held Clemson to 26, Boston College held them to 24, FSU held them to 14, and South Carolina held them to 17. With the exception of FSU, none of the aforementioned teams have better groups of players overall on defense than we do. Our pass rush, or lack thereof, will determine how well we can or cannot slow Boyd down...
