Game Thread Orange Bowl: tOSU vs Clemson, Jan 3, 8:30 ET, ESPN

I would describe the vibe surrounding the team as somewhere between "not super positive" and "toxic"

All the more reason to go in to this game with nothing to lose. Take home a W and call it a season, start preparing for another run in 2014.

I seem to recall there being a similar, albeit different vibe going into the 2010 Sugar Bowl against a team we "couldn't stop". That game turned out pretty well, IIRC.

Very different defense.

This defense is not capable of stopping Clemson. I agree with the above poster that unless Ohio State scores on every possession and controls the clock then they do not have a shot at winning. This version of the Silver Bullets just can't do it, unfortunately.

I just watched a Kansas State defense hold UM to 14 points and 302 total yards. KANSAS STATE?!?!?!??!? I don't care that Shane Morris was the QB in that game. You can't tell me that Devin Gardner is that much better than Shane Morris. I'm not buying it.
This Ohio State defense is going to get rolled by Clemson unless the offense keeps them off the field.

I don't necessarily disagree with those saying this D is going to get exposed. I just don't agree with the mentality that the game is already lost.

Maybe it's just semantics but how could the defense be "exposed" at this point?

Shredded, burned, gashed, destroyed, plunger raped, torched....all would be appropriate but "exposed" infers some sense of surprise after they get destroyed.

OSU can win the game but they are going to have to 1) actually be motivated and up for it (I have my doubts after the B1G CG) and 2) get at least something resembling a little defense 3) score 45+ to even have a shot

just my .02

Well here it is…. Urban has talked constantly about how the B1G can get some respect, and that's win the big games and EARN it. MSU steps up to the plate and takes care of business and now all lights turn onto our game.

Jax, are we forgetting that this team hasn't been bowling for 2 years and that most of them haven't even been to a bowl game? I get what you mean but I have to believe that motivation will not be a problem.

We don't need to be out of this world on defense to win this game. We just need to make some plays and not get crushed on a 60+ yard TD pass or play. If this defense just plays fundamental and gets a turnover or two we will win this game. Clemson will not stop our offense, shit MSU couldn't hold us under 250 (we would've had over 300+ yards if not for turning away from Hyde) do you really think Clemson is going to have an answer?

Whoever runs the ball and controls the LOS will win this game, and that'll be us.

Look at how MSU had a young player step up for the All American tonight. Buckeye's have guys waiting in the wings. IF someone steps up for Roby and Marcus plays like he can, we might just stomp a mud hole in Clemson's ass. I'll admit I'm a little anxious after watching today's games about ours on Friday. I want some Silver freaking Bullets to show up!
