Online college football sim

Nice to see you guys both sticking around for another season--Scooter takes the step up to tier-2, BuckStocks looks to build on his IAA playoff appearance...

For anyone else who happens to see this thread, CCEL is between seasons now, so this is the time to join. (And your first season is literally free!) Recruiting starts next week, then regular-season games kick off in mid-July (two gamedays run per week during the season).

Bay --

I think I've read, searching the forum, you "should" fill your roster with the minimum required number at each position BEFORE season initialization so you get the best walkons...

BUT, if you don't fill, say FB or whatever, you would be guaranteed to get a walkon for that position, correct?

Why do people think he wouldn't be one of the best if you HAD to get him...? Why do people believe you have to have a full roster (position wise) to get the best?

I think leaving open roster spots to force position-specific walk-ons is more of a tier-1 strategy, since the walkons there are better: the sim creates a full roster's worth of walkons for each team, and they are slotted onto your roster in order from best to worst--after first filling up a legal roster. So basically you don't want the sim to have to address all your open spots and not get a chance to give you the handful of worthwhile walkons.

Tier-3 has like a D-level walkon cap anyway, so it's a non-issue at Bryant. :)

So... I get a win in week two over Yale 45-38. I have to work on my defense. Yale racked up 392 yards passing on me. Of course my own QB garnered C-USA recognition for his own 340yd, 3TD performance.

Baseball: B-CU pulled in the #22 recruiting class, beating Wake Forest in head to head battles for four different recruits. Leaving Wake with the #53 class.
22. Bethune-Ckmn: IF C.Mendelson (A), OF B.Almeida (A-), P D.Hunt
(A-), IF B.Mallard (B+), OF A.Allred (B), OF J.Belmore (C+), and OF
T.Chiplis (C)

Not a bad haul for a 1-AA tier 3 team. Mendelson, Almeida, Mallard and Allred were stolen right out from under Wake. Chiplis was also being recruited by VaTech. Hunt was also being pursued by BC, and Auburn. Both schools landed well below me in the ratings.

Actual rankings

Wake Forest #34
Boston College #55
Va Tech #77
B-CU #239

So, of all days, I find out today that I was given Miami for my tier-1 school. Uggh.

Big rebuilding job in a tough conference, good luck scooter!

For anyone else looking for a new sim/game, DEL's college football league is between season and recruiting starts back up this weekend... As always, first season is FREE!

I wasn't able to do much this past year other than "maintain". I left my old job and was looking for a new one, which I start in about 10 days.

Everything going on before that contributed to me not having much time to do much. I'm hopeful things will slow down and I just signed up for 2 more seasons, so I'm in regardless.

Still hoping for a return to the playoffs and square off against C Ark!!

That one loss in conference really cost me. Lost by 3 and I guess lost the 3 way tiebreaker. meh.

I'd say you've maintained pretty well: Bryant looks fairly loaded coming into this season...

I think this "might" be my last season at Bryant. I believe this is my big class I signed in the first year that are now Seniors. I think there were like 25 scholarships avail when I got there year 1. I might do a double dip at some point though if I leave, to come back and enjoy d-3.

49 invites going out today.

Only 49 invites sent out? I have to say, you really should be using all 90 in the opening round: there's literally no cost to submitting just an invite with scholarship, and you want to have a lot of options to fill a class on signing day. Really nice walk-ons at Miami, though, a couple of stars in that group.
