Goodness...

Frame to play tackle? Sure, but why put weight on him and switch positions if he could be a heckuva TE?

Reid might end up being the sleeper in this class. He'll have the size and blocking mentality to contribute, if not start, right away for us. You don't see high school juniors that big and that strong.

FREAK.

I agree with you. We lose Nicol and Smith to graduation and Ballard will show up in a lot of mock drafts so there's a slight chance he could leave early(I don't think he will but ya' never know). Even if he doesn't, the only other scholarship TE would be Dillilo and he'd only have one year on Reid. I can't see Reid redshirting.

Sorry, BGriff.

There is plenty of time to work on speed with Reid, especially if it's a tenth or two tenths of a second we're talking about here. A 4.8 40 is respectable for a TE. Plus, he's just finishing his JR year, for goodness sake. Keep in mind that Reid is only 10 pounds heavier and 2 inches taller than Jake Stoneburner at the same points in their careers, and there wasn't a PEEP about Jake playing OL.

Now Reid's not going to be running any 4.4 40's like Jake, but I'm just sayin'...

When has Stoneburner ever been over 240 lbs?

Ohio State football: Tight end prospect commits to 2009 class

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Another prospect from Michigan became the 15th commitment to Ohio State's recruiting class of 2009 last night. Tight end Reid Fragel, 6 feet 8, 258 pounds, of Grosse Pointe, Mich., said he has picked the Buckeyes over Michigan State. Michigan had sought him, too, but as a tackle. He wants the chance to catch the ball, which is one of the reasons he said he chose OSU.
"The first time I visited there, I fell completely in love with the place," Fragel said by phone. "It was for the spring game, and it was awesome."

I see more of a basketball frame to Reid than a larger bulkier frame to play OT. I see TE all the way and he could get up to 275-280 and still play there. He has the athleticism to do it and when he gets here his coordination, strength and speed should all improve. (6'8"-275-4.7,40) Those are unbelievable measurables for a TE or any other position than DB/RB. Lets wait and see what he can do before pigeon holing him into a position that he doesnt necessarily want to play. He could grow out of the TE position, yes its possible, but right now he's a TE all the way.

Welcome aboard Reid!

DFP: Grosse Pointe South junior commits to Ohio State

Grosse Pointe South junior commits to Ohio State

By MICK McCABE
May 28, 2008

The allure of winning and remaining a tight end was too much for Reid Fragel to pass on, so the Grosse Pointe South junior committed to Ohio State Tuesday night.

Fragel is the second state prospect to commit to the Buckeyes. Two weeks ago, wide receiver James Jackson of Grand Ledge said he will sign with Ohio State.

Fragel was recruited by a host of colleges, but eventually chose Ohio State over Michigan State.

"The first time I set foot on the campus I fell in love with the place," he said this morning. "Ever since then I've been narrowing things down. I went to visit Michigan State (Tuesday) and it just kind of confirmed everything that I made the right decision. After the visit I committed."
