MAC schools make moves on Cleveland Glenville prospects

The fine Cleveland Glenville program is one of the top football programs in the state of Ohio, and has been considered a pipeline to Ohio State. The Buckeyes have missed out on very few Tarblooders they have gone after since Jim Tressel has taken over at Ohio State.
Glenville senior defensive end Jonathan Newsome committed to Ohio State in June. Offensive lineman Marcus Hall made an official visit to Ohio State last weekend. Hall is planning to visit LSU, Illinois, Miami and Tennessee in January, but the Bucks are the favorite to land the star lineman.
There are a number of other senior Glenville prospects that are going to play at the next level and two of them could end up playing in the MAC.
Linebacker Travis Freeman made an official visit to Ball State last weekend. He will visit Ohio University Jan. 9. Freeman also plans to visit Toledo and probably Boston College. If Freeman takes a fifth visit it might be to Indiana or Louisville.
"My visit to Ball State was great," Freeman said. "Coach (Brady) Hoke has gone to San Diego State, but Coach (Stan) Parrish got the (Ball State) job. He's the one recruiting me so that worked out good.
"Ohio University will be my next visit. Coach (Tim) Beckman, the new coach at Toledo, ask me to take a visit there. That will be sometime in January."
Freeman has scholarship offers from all three MAC schools. Boston College, Indiana and Louisville are still evaluating the 6-foot, 210 pound middle linebacker.
Glenville quarterback Terrence Owens is scheduled to visit Ohio University with Freeman the weekend of Jan. 9. That will be Owens first official visit. Owens also has an official visit scheduled to Bowling Green the weekend of Jan. 23. Eastern Michigan and Cincinnati are the other two schools in the mix. Owens has scholarship offers from all of those schools except Cincinnati.
"It's pretty open between those four schools," Owens said. "I really don't know who I like best."
Another Cleveland area quarterback is being pursued by the MAC schools. DeVontae Payne (Cleveland/South) made an official visit to Akron the weekend of Dec. 5. He is visiting Toledo this weekend. Payne said he has talked with Syracuse about a possible official visit in January.
"Those are the main three schools right now," Payne said. "Akron and Toledo have offered me a scholarship. "Syracuse said they are considering an offer."
The 6-6 and 225-pound Payne threw for over 1,400 yards in each of the past three seasons.

12/29
Favors Ohio State, Illinois and Miami.
"I took Ohio State on December 12 and the weekend after I leave the Army game, I'm going to Michigan, then Illinois, Miami University and then Tennessee. My biggest top three is Ohio State, Illinois and Miami."
Marcus Hall (Glenville/Ohio) was dominant when the East team ran the ball as was Eric Shrive (West Scranton/Pa.) a future Penn State Nittany Lion.
OT Marcus Hall
6-5/290, Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville Academic Campus
Marcus Hall is a massive right tackle prospect, even compared to the legendary size of Morgan Moses. He has a great frame and body structure with long arms and good strength in the upper body and lower body. Hall showed the ability to be a grinder in tight spaces and also the feet and athleticism to be effective in space on the edge. He looks like what a right tackle prototype should look like.
OT Marcus Hall, 6-5/290, Cleveland Glenville
ASSETS: Has good height and a great overall physique for an offensive tackle.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: Needs to work some on his flexibility, he is not a natural knee bender and he also has a tendency to play high at the point of attack.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE IN PRACTICE: The most physically impressive offensive lineman on the East squad. He is not someone you are just going to beat one-on-one without using sound technique.
CONCLUSION: Physically is ready to compete right now for a position on almost any two-deep chart in America. Look for him to play right offensive tackle and also be cross-trained at offensive guard in college.

Waiting to see if this news is accurate, but Hall is now listed as an in-game announcement.
