OL Marcus Hall (The Bird Man of Ann Arbor)

People are treading awfully close to the line of what we consider unacceptable in the recruiting forum. Choose your words carefully...we are not going to allow anyone to call out a high school kid for enjoying a once in a lifetime experience.

if Marcus goes elsewhere that just means the staff has that much more PT to sell to Seantrel Henderson.

Remember, no recruit is a "must get"...

As much as I really like Hall he is not a "must get" for the same reason that is being suggested we may lose him - the depth chart. For that matter I can't find a position on the entire roster where anybody could be classified a "must get" for at least another year.

Completely agree. Besides which, why is it any recruit's responsibility to commit to any particular school?

Marcus (like any young person) should attend the school which appeals most to him, in all ways. Most thoughtful young men will, of course, wish to play for the Buckeyes, but there are (a very few) valid reasons to go elsewhere.

Mulling this over a bit more - and keeping in mind that NOTHING has really happened yet - it would be very interesting if he chooses Ilinois.

The down side is listening to the "I told you so" homers.

The upside is 1) the Big Ten gets better and 2) it isn't Michigan - which is interesting. If you are looking to play early isn't UM desperate for OL? If the kid wants to stay in the Big Ten, and if RR can't sell UM to Hall, it would make as significant a recruiting statement as anything I have heard so far.

Again - IF, IF, IF.

If you are an OL, you DO NOT want to play in DRod's offense. It hurts your draft stock. There's a reason DRod has never had an O-lineman drafted. There's also a reason FSU has had to rely on 2 and 3 star recruits since Trickett has become there O-line coach. It just fits what they want to do. Undersized O-lineman that can run.

If Hall goes anywhere, it is Illinois. Zook has certainly made some favorable impressions over there.

Rivals $

8/28

From O&B News...plans to visit the four schools he is favoring (Illinois, Ohio State, Miami (Fla.) and Michigan) and will keep that fifth spot open for another possible visit. Talks about his contact with the Illini staff and is looking forward to seeing how Cordale does this year.

Everyone take a breath...

I have no idea where Marcus is going to end up but I think a lot of this is an act. That's the feeling I am getting...but even if it isn't, if Marcus goes elsewhere that just means the staff has that much more PT to sell to Seantrel Henderson.

Agree 100%. Although I completely trust the staff's evaluation of a prospect and subsequent decision to offer them, Hall has never been someone I look at and say "wow, this kid looks like a stud." Just my personal opinion. But if he does go elsewhere, it should certainly widen an already open door for Henderson into next year's class.

Uh, Illinois runs the spread option as well.

yeah, but I'm pretty sure that their blocking scheme isn't what Michigan is using right now that doesn't showcase NFL type talent. That is why WVU had all those all american type Olinemen and none of them were good draft prospects.
