Good to know, even more excited about him now. But huge pickup in my books, really excited to see if he competes right away. There will be a ton of competition at the tackle spots with J. Jones, Prince, Feder and Bowen (maybe Lisle and Trout, not sure if they play inside or out), really think it will be beneficial for everyone to have Malcolm in that group. Welcome aboard Mr. Pridgeon!

Ohio State football | Junior college transfer has had more than his share of heartache

In one way, Malcolm Pridgeon is blessed. He’s 6 feet 8 and 328 pounds with unusual agility for a person his size.

But the offensive tackle, a major national signing day pickup for Ohio State today, also faced has hardships that no 21-year-old should have to endure.

When he was 11, his father, James Earl, died of a heart attack. Five years later, his mother, Peggy, suffered a heart attack and stroke. She lives in a nursing home. Pridgeon’s sister, Kalisha Garrison, took custody of him.

I keep coming back to the guys we either said "sorry no room" to or at least seemingly slowed down our pursuit of so that this guy could make it. That tells me all I need to know about his potential. And that's not falling in love with the new guy and forgetting the current players either. I just keep thinking of Urbs comments "we don't go after jucos often and when we do, it's not so they can sit"

Pridgeon is going to be a very interesting player to watch when he hits campus. Obviously we thought he could compete right away but it sounds like Jamarco has one tackle spot locked up and Prince has endless talent (and Bowen is getting good reviews). He is really going to have to have a huge fall camp to earn his spot over Prince...not undoable but the competition will be stiff. I am pretty sure he can't redshirt correct?

If all he does this season is just put pressure to perform on those above him on the depth chart, I'll consider that a success. Considering the DL has been putting a beating on the OL in Spring Ball, they'll need all the competiton to play they can get.

Agreed. I think he will provide competition at the very least and provide needed depth bare minimum.
