OSU notebook: Boren quick to make big impression

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Running back Daniel Herron squirmed into the end zone during a drill in an Ohio State spring practice yesterday, and quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano sought out someone for a celebratory head butt. And it wasn't Herron -- Siciliano went noggin to noggin with junior left guard Justin Boren.
Boren, the celebrated transfer from Michigan who had to sit out last season, has wasted little time showing why he was a starter for the Wolverines as a freshman as he now presses to earn a starting job with the Buckeyes.
"Boren is so physical," defensive tackle Doug Worthington said. "You look at him and you see how big and how wide he is (6 feet 3, 315 pounds), but he brings it, and he brings it real, real quick."
Which just adds to the theme of the spring for the offensive line: play more physical. Worthington said that goal is shared by the defensive front, too, resulting in some pithy scrimmage sessions thus far.
"The trenches have been working very, very hard," Worthington said. "(The offensive line is) showing a lot and improving every day."

technically speaking, no.MaxBuck;1446108; said:I know you know this, Griz, but Boren is not on scholarship.

I'm not calling Zach anything other than a good player (which chances are he will be with that drive). He could end me.Oh8ch;1446153; said:Are you implying some sort of impropriety?
Trust the coaches.TheIronColonel;1446182; said:So Boren transferred because Tressel bought Pryor a Corvette?
