OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

Justin's bench is sick. He kept his sanity somehow practicing everyday knowing he would not be able to play this year after already starting for two years in the Big Ten. When bowl practice hit, he started turning it back on, knowing his chance was coming soon. His work on the scout team during bowl practice was re-donk-ulous. He was blowing our starters on D off the line and I could tell he was making a statement to everyone that his time is coming in 2009. Boren will dominate in the trenches this year.

I am excited to see Justin in S&G. We'll need him come 9/12. Hopefully he can step up and be a leader for some of the young guys.

It's still really early but Justin's career is shaping up to make him an actual Ohio State legend. Think about what he's done and what he has a chance to do:

  • Transfer from scUM to tOSU despite no scholly. That's legendary right there.
  • Sick bench numbers. Chicks dig the bench press.
  • Start two years at Ohio State
  • Beat scUM two times as a starter(his last one would be on senior day)
  • Become an All-American(the internet buzz is he's already our best OL so it's feasible)
  • Win 2 Big-10 championships(almost a given the way we've been recruiting compared to the rest of the Big-10)
  • Win a National Championship(his senior year will be the junior year of Pryor and the '08 class)

If he does that, big if but not impossible, I would go as far as to say he'd deserve that 4th spot on Ohio State football Mt. Rushmore next to Woody, Archie, and Tressel.

I know this post is pretty outlandish but it's March.

And don't forget the great big sign that is raised on his senior day that says, "Those who transfer will be champions!"

:oh:

The way Jim Tressel addressed questions about Michigan transfer Justin Boren, it sounded as if the Pickerington North product is almost a lock to start for the Ohio State football team at guard. When the OSU coach tried to remember if he has had another transfer in a similar situation, a reporter helped him.

"John Kerr," the reporter said in reference to the linebacker who came to OSU in 2005 after being a starter at Indiana.

"Yes, John came in and found himself competing with some pretty good guys here," Tressel said. "I think this will be a little bit different from that."

Tressel followed with praise about Boren's physical play and confidence before adding, "I think he'll add a dimension."
