OL Justin Boren (Official Thread)

Well, I would guess if rumors are rampant on o-zone that he committed to scUM and his high school coach won't comment to Alan, I'd say the rumors are probably true. If that's the decision he made, then I hope he does well there (except against us).

My thoughts exactly! (Sort of....)

folanator....

i can answer that one already.....it was just a matter of michigan making him a high-priority.....ohio state didn't stand a chance once michigan showed him serious love....

the young man probably has a million great memories of michigan games spent with his dad......there just was no overcoming that....

imho....i think he made the right choice.....

I'm glad he has his decision finalized. He can move on and so can we by offering someone else. By not waiting, he's done us a favor. More or less.

Agreed. If he knows he wants to be up north, best to state that now, rather than waiting until the last minute. Or wose yet, telling both sides he's coming, ala Gwaltney. At least now we can go after someone else.

Thanks, makes perfect sense to me as a father and a son.

Good luck to him, hope he does great.

and another quick tidbit that caused me to call him to michigan a few days ago....

when i talked to him he showed respect for ohio state, but when he started talking about michigan he just lit up and rambled about the place....that with the decision is made comment left calling him to michigan a no-brainer....

Our OL is loaded. We didn't need him anyhow.

Seriously though, behind Aaron Brown this kid was near the top of my list. He was everything you look for in a player in almost every dimension. The way he handled the process was classy. We should all appreciate that he made his decision now rather than the end of January. This decisoin is not about fences. It is not about momentum. It is not about Michigan getting one up on OSU. It is about family and that is cool.

But now he is a weasel and I hate him. To say anything less would be to disrespect him.

I humbly apologize in advance if this post should be in a non-player-specific thread :wink2: , but who now becomes our top OL priorities (besides Brown/Smith)? Do we definitely want 3 OLs in this class, or 3 in-staters plus an OOS? Any ideas on who will get the next OL offer--Tilley, Palmer, Nagy, etc?

This was a humorous end to your praise for him...

Thank you Justin for doing the right thing and playing for the team your heart loved. I would MUCH rather have you play for the weasels than regret your decision later after coming to Columbus. No one can blame you for playing your father, however we'd appreciate it if you would call in sick for The Game in 2007 & 2008. :)

I especially thank the borens for handling this with class, and for not leaving us screwed with a january decision. He was at the top of our target list, but we will be fine without him thanks to an incredible lineup of OL recruits in Ohio and OOS.
