OL J.B. Shugarts (official thread)

I really think it is a 3 horse race with us, Michigan and Texas...

I do know there are quite a few Michigan fans with positive thoughts on this one, and Mallett seems to be recruiting him pretty hard along with another kid they will probably get after signing day by the last name of McGuffie(sp?) that is also trying to pull him to Michigan...That kid is also from Texas...

Hopefully the Block O has some more pull than them...

You can also never count out the home school...

Rivals $

1/19

Film of J.B. playing tight end...the athleticism and leverage he can get are obvious. Blocks well in space. Overextends at times, but has a great motor and keeps his feet very quick and active for such a big guy. Does a great job of using the defenders own momentum against him...seals off to the inside very well.

I think he is the best looking prospect of the big 4 right now...

I sway daily...one day Shugarts looks the most impressive, the next day it is Adams, the next day it is Brewster. As soon as we get some film on Long I'm sure he'll spend a day as my favorite horse.

LOL, I hear ya, but after seeing Adams film, I think he is going to need more work with a base and not lunging as much.

Brewster is a freakin' beast rb much like Conner Smith, but struggles a lil moving laterally when pass blocking.

For Shugarts he is very technically sound and he has the versatility to move down to guard as well as play tackle.

I guess it is hard to comment on the big 4 when I havent seen Long, but that is just my opinoin right now on the other 3.

I'm with you. If you look at versatility and overall athleticism, I think Shugarts is the best. Brewster would probably be next, then Adams, then Long(though I haven't seen film yet). With that said, they are all very close but I do think that J.B. is the best and will be rated the highest on Rivals. Not to mention...he is from the south

Have a feeling this kids recruitment is going to be a wild ride for all schools involved. He seems to say the right things about every school. I think he's really going to play "the game" and take his time and visits. I think all the schools on his Final 5 are going to feel good about their chances at one point or another.

I will disagree with this...

I will agree with your disagreement...super mario is probably not as familiar with the Block O situation as OSU fans are. Bollman is all over Shugarts, just like he is Adams, Brewster and Long.

super mario...take into account that J.B. is considering transferring to Dublin Coffman, where fellow '08 OL recruit Mike Adams (and Buckeye lock) plays. No word on if that transfer is going to go through, but the option was being explored at one point.
