Centerville lineman commits to Ohio State
By Greg Billing | Tuesday, February 28, 2012
With offers from some of the nation?s top college football programs, and many more to follow, Centerville High School junior offensive lineman Evan Lisle ended the drama early.
Lisle announced Tuesday night he gave a verbal commitment to play for coach Urban Meyer at Ohio State University.
?I felt like it was the right time,? said Lisle, who plans to major in business. ?My family and I talked about it and we love Ohio State. We loved the facilities, we love the coaches and the academics. ? That?s another thing. As I get older (a degree from Ohio State is) going to set me up for later in life. That?s one of the main reasons I chose Ohio State.?

Evan Lisle had scholarship offers from schools across the country, but the Centerville offensive lineman was waiting for one in particular.
?Once I got the Ohio State offer last week, it made things pretty easy,? Lisle said last night after becoming the fifth commitment to the Buckeyes? 2013 recruiting class.
OSU beat out Notre Dame in the end, said Lisle, who also had been offered by Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma and Nebraska. At 6 feet 6 and 275 pounds, he fits the mold that new OSU coach Urban Meyer is seeking in linemen.
?I think they are looking for tall, lean, athletic, intense players,? Lisle said. ?I will get into guys and hit. And I am one of those guys who loves football. I?ve loved it since the second grade.?
?As soon as Ohio State offered, I knew they were at the top,? Lisle said shortly after making his commitment. ?I?ve always been a Buckeyes fan. I went down for a visit a month ago, and I loved everything about it. I loved all the coaches, the academics are special.
?I was thinking about it, and me and my family talked about it for a few nights and we wanted to get ready for my senior season to play to the best of my ability. So I said ?What are we waiting on? It?s time to get it out of the way because it?ll happen sooner or later.? ?
Lisle is confident the Buckeyes will win a national championship under Meyer, and during the Buckeyes? junior day, Lisle?s father, Steve, said everyone in the room ?would run through a wall? for the Buckeyes? new coach.
First-year Buckeyes offensive line coach Ed Warriner was also instrumental in Lisle?s recruitment. The two began building a relationship while Warriner was still at Notre Dame, which finished No. 2 behind the Buckeyes in the race for the 6-foot-5, 260-pound tackle.
?When he moved to Ohio State, I got a chance to meet with him a lot and talk to him,? Lisle said. ?He?s one of the best offensive line coaches in the country.?

On the field he has excellent technique which will allow him to move inside if needed or play on the outside without much difficulty. Redshirting might be optimal for him but I am not sure enough about the depth in front of him that he wont be in the two deep by his first fall on campus.
