The sad part is, I was warned about this by Florida fan 7 years ago.He sucked at LSU. He sucks here. Urban’s loyalty to friend in coaching is his Achilles heel.
It's the difference between him and Nick Saban. In the past, he hasn't carried the dead weight past two seasons* of underperformance. Lets see if that continues. He sucked at LSU. He sucks here. Urban’s loyalty to friend in coaching is his Achilles heel.
I was going to point that out earlier lol. I mean the favoritism with ZS sucked but his units were never a complete disaster like say, OL, or damn near the entire defense. It's the difference between him and Nick Saban. * somebody's gonna come along and point out he who shan't be named, but truth be told, the WRs were pretty good until about 2016 under him. At least not bad enough to really open eyes.
I really don't like the argument "He's tasked with playing the best 5". Who scouts them? Who recruits them? Who develops them? It is all on him. If he is moving players to different positions then he should be working with them to improve their skills for the new position. Our center should not be snapping the ball to our QBs feet. That should have been taken care of months ago. That is pure muscle memory that a thousand should have fixed between the time he was moved to center and the first game. That is why he gets paid $500,000 a year. Actually he gets paid $500,000 a year to develop a great offensive line to win football games to get us in the playoffs to sell merchandise to fuel the athletic budget. Some calls for firing may be on target based on a continual ineptitude(I.e. Davis, Beck, Withers), but Coach Stud, I would have to disagree with. He's tasked with playing the best 5, and sometimes that's putting guys at new positions(Jordan, Pridgeon, Alabi, Price, Elflein) and hoping for the best. An OL has to gel and become cohesive, Jordan has never played OC before and its arguably the most important position on the OL, and we're expecting him 7 games in, to play at the level of Price and Elflein like that. That's a little unrealistic, as we were simply spoiled with those 2.
I thought Jordan was moved to OC not very long before the first game of the season, and the plan in the off season was to start Taylor at OC...I really don't like the argument "He's tasked with playing the best 5".
