OL Bryant Browning (Official Thread)

Bryant Browning

Browning wasn't invited to the NFL Combine, and was unable to participate fully in OSU's Pro Day. He's reportedly held meetings with the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers, and also reportedly held a workout with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Scout.com has him ranked at 20th for guards in the draft. Browning will likely be a late-round pick and may possibly become an undrafted free agent, but there is no question he will get the opportunity to prove that he can play at the next level.

Ohio State was among five Football Bowl Subdivision programs that had five or more players named as members of the National Football Foundation's Hampshire Honor Society. The society honors players judged to be starters or significant substitutes who have maintained at least a 3.2 grade point average.

Buckeye guard Bryant Browning, receiver Garrett Hummel, offensive lineman Chris Malone, long snapper Jake McQuade, offensive tackle Andrew Miller and offensive lineman Scott Sika were named to the society. Indiana, Brigham Young, Fresno State and TCU also had five players honored.

Flanagan, who represents Ohio State's Bryant Browning and Dane Sanzenbacher, both undrafted rookies, said pursuing other leagues didn't make sense yet for players NFL teams are expected to pounce on "once the floodgates open."

"Maybe around September you start looking at those options," Flanagan said.
Browning, a former Glenville standout who grew into a versatile 6-4, 315-pound offensive lineman at Ohio State, said a handful of NFL teams hinted they might take him in the seventh round. But the final round came and went without a peep.

"I definitely thought I might have a chance at it," said Browning, who earned a marketing degree last December. Now the daily routine centers on training at the OSU team weight room with other undrafted but hopeful Buckeyes -- Larimore, Sanzenbacher and, occasionally, guard Justin Boren.

Rams undrafted free agents: OG Bryant Browning, Ohio State
Turfshowtimes_tiny by VanRam on Jul 26, 2011

As you might have expected, the St. Louis Rams did add an interior lineman via undrafted free agency, Ohio State OG Bryant Browning. As with most undrafted free agents, don't look for Browning to compete for a starting job in training camp. He's a fairly raw prospect with limited upside.

Browning does possess prototypical size for an NFL guard at 6'4" 319 lbs. He did not get an invite to the Combine this year, and didn't get to fully participate in OSU's pro day, hence his draft status. All of which is sort of ironic since he played every game.

As a senior, Browning moved from right tackle inside to guard, which did put his name on the preseason Outland Trophy watch list. His size makes him a decent pass blocker on the inside, but his run blocking left a little room for improvement. He moved in from right tackle after struggling with speed rushers in college.

Offensive lineman Adam Goldberg returned to the fold Saturday. Goldberg, entering the sixth season with the St. Louis Rams, had been an unrestricted free agent and served as the Rams' player rep during the recent contract negotiations.

Also joining the roster Saturday was offensive tackle Quinn Ojinnaka, a six-year veteran who spent last year with the New England Patriots after four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

To make room, the Rams released a pair of rookie free agents, guards Bryant Browning and Tyler Donahue.

Panthers grab UDFA OG Bryant Browning
Panther_tiny by manu4t on Aug 7, 2011

The Panthers just grabbed undrafted free agent Bryant Browning who was waived by the Rams. Browning was a 3 year starter at right guard and 2010 Captain at Ohio St. He has a touching personal story insofar as his mother passed away when he was 12, and he lost his aunt a week later, leaving him to be reared primarily by an older brother. Professionally, he does not seem to have a tremendous amount of upside.
