OL Alex Boone (Official Thread)

While I would love to agree with that sentiment, Oklahoma's pairing of Loadholt and Robinson is probably just as good, if not better.

I agree. Both should be 1st round selections. Although Loadholt's stock may be dropping and he'll need to assure the NFL that his DUI in June is not his lifestyle. It seems more and more NFL GMs are paying a lot of attention to the quality of the individual.
Robinson is a sure 1st rounder.
Boone should be a 1st rounder but it's not a sure thing. He could fall to an early 2nd round selection.
Steve Rehring goes later. 3rd round at the highest. My guess is he's a late 3rd or early 4th round selection.
By pure talent, those two OU OL's are the best pair in the country.

Fall Notebook: Shaving Mike Brewster And More

...

During the season, Boone walked into postgame interviews with a freshly shaved head. Asked what happened to his haircut, he explained that his girlfriend had shaved it while he slept.

Now, nearly two years later, Boone has come clean and exonerated the woman in the story.

"That was a joke," he said with a laugh. "I couldn?t believe you guys all fell for that one. I got it cut because the coaches wanted me to get it cut."

Boone came in at number 6 on their list of best offensive tackles. He also made the Honorable All-American list:
Alex Boone, Sr. Ohio State
The Buckeyes caught a huge break when the 6-8, 312-pound Boone surprised everyone and chose to return for his senior season. A four-year starter on the left side, he's a great pass blocker with the long arms that keep all the pass rushers at a distance to go along with the power to be a dominant run blocker. He's a rock of a player who's getting more and more consistent. Considered by some to be the best Buckeye line prospect since Orlando Pace, all eyes will be on him as the possible first tackle taken in next year's draft.

Boone gets treatment: Starting left tackle Alex Boone, named the offensive lineman of the week, missed practice Tuesday while receiving IV antibiotics for an infection on his arm, according to a source close to Boone.

The arm first showed redness following Saturday's game and after taking antibiotic pills, Boone was switched to an IV on Tuesday.

He's fine.
Just to confirm what Jim Tressel said on Thursday about Alex Boone, got word today that Ohio State's senior left tackle is back at 100 percent after taking IV antibiotics for an infection on his left arm earlier in the week.

Sounds like it was nothing serious and has been taken care of, which is obviously good news for the Buckeyes.

Alex Boone's 9/13 Post Game Comments

much more at link

.
On what happened
"I think it was our mistakes. We scored once and it gets called back for holding, we get down to the 4-yard line and we get called for holding again, we get called for offsides twice which was stupid. We just kept saying we can't be like that, this is not our football, we don't play like this, what are we doing, what's going on. But at the same time, that's what happened, that's how the game went."

On how he feels
"(Ticked), extremely (ticked) off. I mean, I don't know what else to say. You go out there and play as hard as you can and that's just what happens.

"I feel like this is the national championship all over again - stupid penalties, stupid mistakes, I mean, roughing the passer, holding, offsides, personal fouls. I mean, what the (heck) is a matter with us."

On it being tougher after this same group just lost the national title game with other bad penalties
"Especially this is the second time through. It's a big game - every big game we end up blowing it for ourselves. Not to say they're not a great team, but we had a lot of penalties.

"I think it might be nervousness. A lot of guys are out here and as much as we just say that it is just a game, it is, but guys come out here, they see 100,000 people and they get antsy and we can't play that way anymore.
"When we walked in at halftime and nobody was saying anything, I mean, what the (heck), we're Ohio State, we should be screaming and swearing and saying anything we could think of, and guys are hanging their head and you don't know what to say to them. You start screaming and they just put their head down even more, and we can't play like that. If we play like that the rest of the season, we won't be any good."

"No, not at all. I can tell you this team is as (ticked) off as it will ever be and we're going back to work tomorrow. I'm going to tell you what, right now, I wouldn't be surprised if guys went home and went straight to the Woody - I know I am. I'm going straight in and watching film for four hours. I'm going to critique myself and the team and go right back to work."

Lets hope that is the case... back to work!
