Oklahoma dismisses QB Bomar/NCAA probation

Yeah, but if I remember correctly, Oklahomas D in 2000,01, and 02 was pretty damn good. I don't see that kind of defense this season and Peterson is almost guaranteed to get hurt carrying that offense. I'd say they are looking at about a 3 loss season right now imo, (Texas, Oregon and either Texas Tech/Iowa State). They could lose all four and one more if Peterson goes down.

Well there goes AP's chance at the Heismen as he was going to need Bomar to keep defenses from cheating. AP was the main player I worried about taking Troys heismen, as I expect Quinn to choke, and Cal's running back just doesn't have enough hype.

The other guy that played QB was awful last year...

That was Paul Thompson. Yeah he was terrible, so he's a wide receiver now. I'm not sure if Stoops gives him another shot at QB.

Side note: Paul Thompson was in the same recruiting class as Vince Young. They were the two top dual threat qb's in Texas that year. Mack offered Thompson a schollie at WR and Vince obviously as a QB. Stoops offered Thompson as a QB and VY as a WR. We were disappointed Thompson went to OU because he's a good athlete and he's from an Austin suburb (Leander). Y'all know how that ended up.

IN conclusion, damn this is hilarious.

Between this and the 4 Canes who got kicked off, I need to make a couple changes.
I just thought the same thing, then opened my Top 25 ballot and looked at who I had behind the Canes and Sooners, and figured nevermind. I didn't have Miami in the Top-10 anyway, and I placed Oklahoma at #9. The thing is, I don't see anyone who, on paper, should move up until I see the product on the field.

Every single team in my Top-25 has question marks, so I may as well have pulled them from a hat to begin with.

Report: Bomar, Quinn dismissed

The University of Oklahoma confirmed that two players had been dismissed by the team but did not identify them. According to a television report on KWTV, the players are starting quarterback Rhett Bomar and center J.D. Quinn.

No QB, no Center

But remember guys, they have a healthy Adrian Peterson. :wink2: Now I know Oregon's gonna' kick their asses and Sooner fans can't come crying with excuses about not having their starting quarterback since we didn't either in last year's Holiday Bowl. I'm pumped!

Their CENTER?!!! hahahahaha

Other than the current crop of true freshmen, they had 7 (seven) scholarship OL left for the season. Their OL 2-deep had 3 guys listed twice at various positions. Now they have six. Those true frosh are about to get thrown to the wolves.

Wow, that's gonna hurt the Sooners. I saw on the OU board that someone 'heard' that Bomar received $10,000 from Big Red Sports and Imports - not exactly chump change...

I applaude Stoops for dismissing him, but it must have been agonizing for him.

There's a fan poll on Soonersports.com - they need to add another category now

for them to get dismissed for getting paid without working seems really tough.

I applaude Stoops for dismissing him, but it must have been agonizing for him.

Stopps isn't doing this to make himself right with God. I am betting it is a slam dunk that they would have gotten this penalty from the NCAA anyhow and OU is trying to avoid worse sanctions.

Big impact on the Heisman race as well. The new QB will have to prove he can move the O before other teams will stop keying on Adiren.
