I tend to tune him out over there when he starts ripping Ohio State, and I do the same whenever anyone rips them as I avoid those threads. At first I tried, but sometimes ya just have to know when to pick your battles and when ya should just tune them out.
But needless to say I know I will be rooting for Ohio to beat Ohio State. And then will be rooting for Ohio State to kick the shit out of USC the next week
And we all respect that. A degree from any of the world's top 2000 universities is probably going to really add value to a young person's career development. At the undergrad level, there is very little difference in what students are getting, provided that they are reading the books and making sure that they get everything available.
It is tiresome to hear this constant harping, jealousy, and misrepresentation of even the academic quality of programs at Ohio State by Ohio University people. For goodness sakes, if Ohio is playing anyone, I would root for them just because it's Ohio. That's my home state. Those are my people.
To see the gloating over a respectable loss in a national championship by a team in a rebuilding year and then all of these chump comments, well, it's a disgrace. Moreover, as the rankings I posted, and any others they might like to find, would show, Ohio State is one of the world's top universities. So, no one is convinced except this little crowd of deluded souls, who just embarrass themselves in front of everyone else.
It's like the poor people I grew up with who constantly said how they "wouldn't want all that money". "No sirree, they ain't never happy, it's just problems and problems. I'm just fine with my little place here in the sun." Then, every week, they went out and played the numbers or the lottery or something else, trying to get a piece of all that misery.
When you are ranked behind at least a dozen African universities on objective criteria, it's time for a reality check. Ohio University is a good state university and has some excellent departments, but it is not even comparable to Ohio State. On any meaningful dimension. Nor does it need to be for a kid to go there and come out with some very good competencies.
Why can't those guys just be happy that they got a good university education and wish all of their home state teams well?
