I like Ohio University. It is just a nice small school located in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful campus. Really compact. Decided to go there over tOSU because I didn't like their Undergraduate Computer Science program (Visited on the Honors program day, and I did not like a lot of the extra engineering classes I would have to take), but I really liked their tOSU's Graduate Computer Science program (Just impressive stuff). That is where I intend to go after my 4 years at Ohio U.
Ohio U's band is worse than my high school band, and I take great pride in that statement because I was in my high school band and we were one of the Top 10 bands in the state. Their drills are amazingly simple, and they do not even get them right.
By contrast, Ohio State always gets their drills right. Script Ohio is, in all respect to actual marching, a glorified follow the leader drill. It is understandable that it has that status, as it is a 70+ year old drill. But, you can bet that TBDBITL gets it right every time. Ohio State's halftime drills are some of the toughest in the country. The only band that I have seen run tougher drills than Ohio State is are the Tennessee Volunteers. Unfortunately, the Vols sacrifice sound quality for impressive drill. Hence, TBDBITL is TBDBITL. They are solid all around in all areas.
No one cares about the games at OU. I went to a game there, and I was bored out of my mind. The whole crowd was quiet. I yelled something when Solich made a bad call, and the whole crowd gave me dirty looks. Like I was weird. I have seen more impressive high school games.
On game day, no one wears Ohio University gear. It is about 30% Laurinaitis, 35% Smith, and 34% TG2. I represent the 1% that wears an AJ Hawk jersey still. Everyone gets together to watch Buckeye games. Bobcat games are an afterthought.
I don't think I have even seen a true Ohio Bobcat fan. Well, aside from the people who don't actually watch football, that is. The football players take it personally. We say to them "Win a couple games."
Most people who mention loyalty to Ohio University football over Ohio State football are townies.
