i see everyone saying they hope it's a good game.. I don't. OU fans seem to be a-holes always cryin' and shit. I really hope we stomp a hole in them and make them never want to come back to the shoe. All other in-state schools, i enjoy.. OU not so much.

Not even Miami?

Personally, I've never understood the love and respect that The Other State Universities get from Ohio State fans--with the obvious exception of those Ohio State fans who went to one of the other schools. Frankly, these universities stab Ohio State in the back every chance they get. Read some of the recent comments from Akron's president. Read a recent Toledo Blade editorial arguing that nationally ranked programs at Ohio State should be shut down and transferred to BG and Toledo out of "fairness"...quality be damned. Look into what former Miami of Ohio president Millet (as the first chair of the board of regents) with the support of OU president Alden did to Ohio State's funding and legally designated flagship role in the 1960s.

Screw them all. Personally, I hope when our ten year commitment to playing them is over, we never give another one another single payday.

Greenies for you. These pathetic weenies tried to cut Ohio State apart simply because they were jealous. They nearly killed what was once the top marketing program in the world (in the business school) when they cut the funding so badly. Ohio State still has not recovered. Sorry to seem so vindictive to fans from other schools, but screw the bureaucrats who drive these initiatives.

Oh well, they took their pathetic last gasp effort in the 1960s to undo the decisions of the 1860s and failed--a bunch of mongrel hyenas trying to take down a lion. They hurt Ohio State but only temporarily, and with the changes being proposed in Ohio higher education today, it looks as though things will be locked in permanently so that none of these pretenders will every be able to rise up and challenge the throne again.

OU "fans," if there really are any, because I still don't believe it to be true, are completely hypocritical. They bash and insult people who attend OU and are Ohio State fans, but when someone else is caught wearing a Kent State, Akron, BGSU, or even Miami(OH) shirt/sweatshirt (they're damn conference opponents and MAIN RIVAL for crying out loud), they say absolutely nothing. Not to mention the fact that 90% of OU "fans" are at least a fan of another big time school such as someone from their home state or even scUM... so, why then is it alright to insult tOSU fans and ignore their own hypocrisy when A) they don't even go to OU's games B) they cheer for other teams too and C) they're a bunch of whining pieces of shit because their teams can't even produce a .500 record.

Sorry, but I've absolutely had it with OU "fans" and they're stupid ideas that they will come to the Horseshoe and actually contend... they're big brother Miami(OH) didn't fair too well in '05 when they actually had a decent team, post Roethlisberger. I cannot wait to be in the stadium and see their low, low, low faces as they leave in the middle of the 3rd quarter when we're winning by 30+ points.

Last time the Bobcats came into the shoe it was a 10-10 tie at the half. Just sayin....

Here's the problem bro, there will be no "low, low, low, faces" because... the reality is... they don't care.

Let me let you in on a little secret... they say things like the might contend merely to piss you off. What do they have to lose? Nothing...

Now... we love our band here at Ohio State... but.. the reality is... and... the OU kids with a clue will tell you this... but... the highlight of their football games really IS the band.

They only have 6 men's varsity sports... I mean... the thing you have to understand is that its just not a sports culture... its much different than Ohio State... and... well... ORD's scathing commentary on academics aside... it should be different... there's nothing wrong with that.

I went to OU for 2 years-- during the Gary "Shaq of the Mac, I beat my girlfriend for fun" Trent era.... and... the tickets to the basketball games were still free for Students.... and they filled up the convocation center for that stuff... but... when they lost to Indiana in the first round of the tourney in '94 (Or whatever year it was)... nobody really cared.

The rest of the arrogance is simply "my school is better than your school" stuff that, well... everyone just needs to get over... if you didn't think your school was good, you wouldn't go there.

I believe they just want their fair share being a public university of the state of Ohio. I doubt Ohio cares about "challenging the throne" they just want enough money to give the best education it can. Ohio State basically is the monopoly in the state of Ohio and the other smaller public universities are trying to fight for every penny it can get to keep up.

But really this is just all about money plain and simple. And really I don't care about what goes on behind the scenes. I blame more the state government over the past decade that has screwed up the education system in Ohio. But really we disgress... I prefer to actually talk about football for once.

Where did this hate come from? Or did your college application get rejected from Ohio University?

I wouldn't say nobody really cared. I would say the love does not run as deep as Ohio State fans. Cuz no one roots for Ohio U. until they actually go to college there or if your parents were alums. Where as Ohio State is the "pro" college football team for the state of Ohio. So you started rooting for them at birth. So the live or die attitude was with you for years before you got to college age.

But I know I cared and everyone one of my fellow Convo crazies did (I also went to OU during that time and was front row of the student section for those great years, including going into St John's Arena and watching Trent dismantle the Buckeyes)

But the basketball team has always been different, they have actually sniffed success. You should see all the alums that fill up the Q during the MAC tournament and they bring the most alums of any MAC school to Cleveland.

Football? Not so much, There have been so many horrible teams there. There was really only one real reason to watch football games... and that was the band. But the sick part is we always had decent attendence. And now with Solich in charge the team is really competing and winning and guess what? We are one of the top 3 programs in the MAC with attendence. And thank god the Fiami game this weekend is in Athens. Cuz at least they would draw more fans than a game held in the hell hole known as Oxford.

As for football Solich has brought a competitive team to Athens. Heck, they were actually beating Virginia Tech this year in the 2nd quarter and they were within one score for most of the 2nd half til the very end Va Tech pulled away. But we were a young team this year as we lost alot of players from our MAC title game team.

So I expect a very good game next year in the 'Shoe as we bring back alot of starters next year. Plus it helps USC is the next week so there is the trap game factor that gives us a puncher's chance.

OU will have big problems trying to move the ball. They lose their all time leading rusher Kalvin McRae. His backups have virtually no carries carries. If you can't run the ball, then you have no shot.

I know they are losing Kalvin, and he is a big loss. But he is more of a bruiser in-between the tackles back, the young RBs on the team are more speed guys. The bigger key will be our offensive line. We return 3 of 5 starters and Solich has been bringing in beef and due to injuries their backups have experience and will be ready.

Also Solich finally has will have his type of QB, an athletic QB. He was a JUCO transfer this year and once he learned the system he has been playing and was actually named the starter but he injured his groin. But next year he should be the unquestioned starter.

Every state school in Ohio is funded the same according to the same universal formula. An in-state undergraduate at Kent State gets just as much state money for the university as does one at Ohio State. A doctoral student in history at OU generates just as much state subsidy money as does one at Ohio State. Quite frankly, this egalitarian, Lake Wobegon (all our universities are above average) mentality is ridiculous, and it wasn't the way things were done until the 1960s. Prior to that, Ohio State was funded differently--as a state's flagship university should be. Do you think that Berkeley and Cal State--Fullerton are funded the same way? Or Michigan and Western Michigan? But thanks to the presidents of Miami of Ohio and OU, that is the ridiculous situation in Ohio.

Ohio State has the 26th ranked history department and the 13th (4th in the world according to the London School of Economics) ranked political science department in the country, yet they are expected to go out and compete against the Berkeleys and Michigans of the world despite having their funding diluted because every two-bit regional state college wants to have a history and poly sci Ph.D program (the state of Ohio funds 8 Ph.D programs in history and 7 in political science) too--AND HAVE IT FUNDED AT THE SAME LEVEL AS OHIO STATE'S DESPITE NOT RANKING IN THE TOP 100 (none do).

Quite frankly, I've always liked practically all the OU people I've met. They're down to earth, fun people. That, however, doesn't negate in my mind the monumental back stab job that their institution--along with that overgrown boarding school in Oxford--did to Ohio State in the sixties. If you're not an alumnus, much less an alumnus of one of the other state colleges, I can't fault you for not caring. If, however, you are a student or an alumnus of Ohio State you should care, for these institutions--Miami of Ohio and OU most of all--work very hard at every opportunity they get to weaken Ohio State, hold it back and in the process devalue your degree in direct contrast to our Big Ten peers (UM included) who through CIC cooperation and programs actually help build and solidify Ohio State's reputation as a university. For that reason (getting back to football), I want Tressel to run up the score like Tom--frickin'--Osbourne on these clowns--just to drive home the point that we dominate them in everything from the AP Poll to the USN&WR rankings. Afterwards, I want Gordon Gee to buy their president's mother a nice steak dinner then never call her again.
