Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

Lovely person. Quality Coach. Legend. Friend/classmate of family. My first wrestling hero. West Lib wrestling camps.
One of the best to come out of the, 'Valley' and there have been quite a few.
Fare thee well...

Pre Seeds

Davino 3rd behind Blaze and Byrd.
Cannon 7th LOLOLOLOL.
Blaze behind Caliendo.
Haines the two seed.

I'm not familiar with the process, but seems very convoluted....so wrestlestat comes out with the pre-seeds, and then coaches can challenge these? Why go through that whole process....just let the coaches rank, send it in, spit it out. Just feels like an odd process. I'd think OSU would challenge on Cannon and it'd bump him up a bit.

Can't imagine this isn't fixed. Not that it matters of course. Not for Haines.
Yeah, I just read an article that coach’s have until Friday to dispute the seedings. I would imagine they would. Think Ryan disputes Cannon’s? I would hope he would do the same. Byrd not getting the nod was also interesting. I don't think Davino cares that much either way, but that is easily going to be the most exciting weight class at this tournament and at the NCAAs.

Have you heard/read about the NCAA granting wrestlers an additional year of eligibility? As in they will have 5 years to compete for their school instead of the usual 4? Something to do with redshirts and timing of the Olympics etc? Pulling Jax Forrest’s redshirt was odd, unless he will be granted a 5th year regardless. Maybe I’m off base here, but was curious as to your thoughts on that or if you heard anything.

Not considering OKST believes he can win it this year...
I totally agree with you on that. There is no question Okie State believes he can win it all this year. My observation is more along the lines with what is the point of it other than Jax’s personal goal of winning an individual title? For instance, were they initially redshirting him to get acclimated to the college world (he should be finishing up his senior year of high school), and to save him to contend for a team title next year? But maybe they have heard through the grape vine that this 5 years to wrestle rule is a done deal, and that he’ll get an additional 4 years regardless after this year? I understand that this is as much of an individual sport as it a team sport, so I am wondering if Okie State just decided to let him fly knowing they will have 5 years of him wrestling vs waiting a year to where their studs round into shape and could potentially be competing for a team title too. I have no idea, just spit balling.

To that point, and if this ruling does come down, Mendez would have a case for a 5th year. He should get it too imo.
