Ohio State Wrestling (2015/2017/2018 B1G Champs, 2015 National Champs, 2019 National Runners-up)

It was to be expected, and indeed it was a complete whitewash tonight as every Buck wrestler won against the overwhelmed Notre Dame College squad by a score of 51-0. Heinselman started it off with a 90 second pin, Koontz picked up a major dec. , D'Emilio a tech, Sasso cradled his opponent in 1:11, and Hepner teched his 15-0 for a half-time score of 26-0. Kharchla teched 24-9, Smith pinned at 2:24 of the first, Jordan won a md 17-3,Tyler Stein pinned at 4:52, and Orndorff mercifully ended the rout with a 12-3 major. Nice to see everyone be so successful but not sure anyone really benefited that much from the inferior opposition.
Actually the best part of the telecast was an interview with Kolin Moore where he said 1. In his opinion alot of the credit for the great recruiting class should go to Coach Ralph 2. Kolin has had a few chances to spar with Feldman over the summer and said he's the real deal. He even texted Ryan that Feldman is "incredible". 3. He said Kaleb Romero is now practicing and should be full go sometime next week. Will then challenge Rocky for 184.

The best weekend ever for scUM just got even better as 'free agent' Nick Suriano picked them to finish out his NCAA eligibility. Naturally their fans already have him destroying Spencer Lee and leading them to a title over both Iowa and PSU. Maybe we'll see him on Jan 14th against Malik Heinselman at Covelli?

Going to be done damn good matches, always is at the CK. I somehow totally missed Wick going to Cal Poly, what a pickup for them...would love to see Kharchla match up against him. And the presumed 149 final could be a preview of the title match. Get your popcorn.

After prelim rounds the Bucks lead with only two..Koontz and Hepner .. in the consos. Here are tonights quarterfinal matchups:
125 Heinselman vs. Kaylor (Ore.St.#6)
141 D'Emilio vs. Chad Redd (Neb.#3)
149 Sasso vs. Moore (Okla.#7)
165 Kharchla vs. Ramirez (Cornell #6)
174 Smith vs. Nijemhaus (Purdue #7)
184 Romero vs. Roberts (Okla #4)
197 Hoffman vs. Bruck (Mich.#2)
285 Orndorff vs. Doyle (Bing.#8)

Looks like D'Emilio and Hoffman have the toughest matches if the seeds are true. Two encouraging signs so far are Romero with a fall in his 1st match this year and Kharch wrestling without that brace and getting a fall and a tech so far. Smith also destroyed some dude like 26-9. Good luck tonight! (9pm est)

Consolation Finals
Kharchla and Orndorff all won in semifinals so they wrestled once more in a 3rd place match. Orndorff lost to
Lance (Neb) 9-4 and finished 4th and Kharchla won over Ramirez..for the 2nd time in the tournament..to finish 3rd.
Finals
Sasso lost to Diakomihalis (Cornell)7-2 to finish 2nd.
Smith lost to Labriola (Neb) in 'Sudden Victory' after a very exciting regulation tie.
And now the good news...IMO the weekend MVP hands down Kaleb Romero defeated Venz (Neb) 7-2 to take home the championship.

Thanks guys for responding to my posts on the Wrestling Bucks. It's good to know there's more interest than just me and RB07OSU. A few observations on the CKLV....
1. Romero..I don't think even Tom Ryan expected him to dominate 184 like that after rehab.
The bracket WAS sort of light though as his finals match was against an unranked opp.
2. OSU has 3 good shots at A-A this year in Sasso,Smith, and Kharchla who gave NCAA champ
Griffith all he wanted before losing by a riding time point.
3. I also think there are 3 more guys who if things break right could make the podium in Romero,
Heinselman, and Orndorff. They will need the same luck of the draw Big Tate had last year.
4. Excited for the rest of this season but damn excited for next year when Mendez,Gallagher,
Bouzakis, Feldman, Welsh.etc. fill in the gaps!

Brown lost 2-1 in quarters and Geog lost 5-2 in quarters. The other three commits all are through to the semis on Saturday.
Welsh won a 2-1 dec. while Shumate had a close dec. and Feldman was dominant. He looks like he will be a dominant 285
next year as well. Shumate/ Fishback ...assuming both win their semi...may be the tournament's best match.

RB - do you suppose Beric Jordan from Graham (but apparently no relation to the other Jordans), might have his eyes on tOSU? He seems like a promising young prospect.

No relation that I am aware of, but incredibly talented and will grow into a college-level weight. Hell of a nice performance at the Ironman. Too early to say where he might be leaning, but OSU is going to reconnect with Graham for his recruitment. Frankly Graham has lost its historic firepower (really bad performance at the Ironman in numerous years) and isn't going to be a big priority imo on the OSU end, but Jordan is going to be a big target.
