Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

McGuff better improve in the recruiting category asap. Missed out on the#1 player in eve country and her teammate, both from the Spire Academy, here in Ohio for 2026 and ended up I think 10th, I be the B1G overall. That's pathetic.

If he misses out on Juni Mobleys sister at Big Walnut, I'm not going to be quiet about it.

The girls could do a lot to keep his seat chilly by showing our in the B1G and national tournaments as well as portal additions.

McGuff will always get guards....his bigs talents are sorely lacking. Elsa is there because of her parents. Hobbs, dunno, but bet vcash she transfers. Kitts, agree, she's not back to her pre-injury form yet. We'll see in the B10's how they stack up. They seem to be a Jackel and Hyde type of team.

This was a high ceiling game for me. They outrebounded the Hoosiers by 12 and had 21 assists. Lots of 2-point meat left on the bone offensively, especially early as they came out a bit overamped and heaved some rushed shots from the paint that looked like more like kids throwing rocks off a bridge than basketball players shooting a basketball, but they still dominated. A few posts back I predicted that we wouldn’t get anything out of Kitts this season, but I was wrong as she was quite good and aggressive without excessive fouling defensively. Elsa’s 13 boards (6 offensive) in only 24 minutes and 5 dimes were great, although she rushed a few shots. If she stays strong and Kitts can play like she did today going forward, they just might have a higher ceiling than I’ve thought this year. Really want to get the win tomorrow and see to what extent they can compete physically with UCLA now that Elsa’s boarding hard and Kitts may be able to help there too.

Great 60-55 win for the ladies today. Elsa went for 17 and 11, did all the little things per usual, and got a full post-game interview. They really looked at her on the pick and roll and she needs to finish more consistently (4 blown layups rolling to the hoop), but If she can keep this up and the guards look for her, it really raises the ceiling for the team. She didn’t get much help on the boards today. I thought the Bucks were pretty clearly the better team today but for finishing at the rim and making threes. I won’t criticize the lack of rebounding outside of Elsa, given Minnesota’s size. If they play like this generally but make more shots, they can really do something.

I thought their seeding preview rank of 16 the last time that came out a few days ago was too low. They should have been ahead of Maryland (13) and Sparty (14). Both of those teams had bad losses yesterday, so that, plus the Buckeyes win today over Minny (who was 15) should get them up to at least #13.

To get a #3 seed, they need to pass either Duke, Louisville, TCU, or Oklahoma. Oklahoma has 7 losses but has a win over S. Carolina that will keep them on the 3 line.

Duke has 8 losses and a loss to ND tomorrow could make it close between Duke and tOSU.

Louisville has 6 losses and is playing Syracuse right now. A loss there could drop them to the #4 line.

TCU only has 4 losses, but the Big XII isn’t as tough and tOSU beat them in New Jersey in January.

Being a #3 would avoid having to play either UConn, USCe, UCLA, or Texas in the sweet 16.

If we don't end a up on the 3 line I'll be disappointed. The 2 worst losses were on the road at UCONN and Iowa. We beat TCU on neutral court so them being ahead of us is a sham. Of course we have a history of getting screwed in the seeding so par for the course.

Huge challenge today. Going to try to be relaxed about the outcome either way, but I want to see them compete like demons and show us what their A game can look like. Elsa’s got double digit boards in six straight, so let’s see if she can pull another double double against these monsters.
