Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Cotie McMahon has now entered the portal.

11W

Ohio State women’s basketball is losing one of its biggest stars.

Two-time All-Big Ten forward Cotie McMahon, the Buckeyes’ leading scorer this past season, entered the transfer portal on Wednesday for her final season of collegiate eligibility.

McMahon, a Centerville, Ohio native, leaves the Buckeyes after three seasons as one of their best players. Across her three seasons as a Buckeye,
Mahon averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, earning first-team All-Big Ten and honorable mention AP All-American honors for each of the past two seasons after winning the Big Ten Freshman of the Year award in 2023. She led the Buckeyes with 16.5 points per game for the 2024-25 season.

Gotta believe Bjork's eyes widened a tad, when he got news of Cotie going portal. Elsa has great potential, but not yet. McDuff doesn't exactly reek of intensity, ever, so mayhaps that's what de-inspired that crew. Jacy and Celeste were models of intensity, and they're history. Anyway, seems like we're at a crossroads, and looking for more pieces to the puzzle than originally thought needed. Guess it's time to put an eye on basketball/wrestling/baseball etc, as OHSportsFan suggests. Go Bucks!

Thought she might get picked up by a bigger-time program than that. Feels like a lateral move.
After expressing frustration with Ohio State following its second-round NCAA Tournament loss to Tennessee, McMahon joins a team that advanced to the Sweet 16 this past season before losing to No. 1 overall seed UCLA. "I want to be surrounded with people who have the same fight, passion, and love for the game just as much as I do," McMahon said in an Instagram story.
Just sayin': I guess that she could have been offered a better NIL deal at Ole Miss too.

Probably correct. NIL in college will certainly surpass the approx $76k in WNBA. Most of their real income is from endorsements, methinks. Wishing Cotie all the best, she deserves it. Amused by announcer saying McDuff is 'agitated', when all he's doing is chomping his gum a little harder. And in BP today, announced he's looking at a guard......come on guy. There's other positions on the court....bigs? Now we need a shooter (that makes 'em), and can rebound as well! Follow along......shoot, missed shot = need to get rebound.

Former Boston College guard T’yana Todd, who ranked fourth in the NCAA last season with a 3-point shooting percentage of 45.9%, announced her commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday.

Todd, who has one remaining year of eligibility, is transferring to Ohio State after averaging double digits in all three of her seasons at Boston College. The Canadian guard led the Eagles with 13.7 points per game last season after averaging 11.8 points per game as a sophomore and 10 points per game as a freshman.

So, tOSU loses 10-12 rebounds per game with Cotie portaling and TT running out of eligibility, and we add yet another shooter? Good thing she's almost 50%, as won't have the presence under the glass to get a rebound. And that's without Ajai, who also runs out of eligibility.
