Too soon old, too late smart
Thought there were some great take-aways to this game. First Braxtin has 'suppressed' herself to play second banana to Jacy and Greene. Having Greene absent, Braxtin stepped up quite a bit. Poole did some good things as well, as talented as she is, she's verrrry young. Definitely not as agile as Jacy or Greene, she put some good open court moves on Indiana guards. Her seven TOs showed her youth and inexperience. She couldn't keep up with the Indy guards, which led (once again, and not just by her) to uncontested lay-ups. Down 4 with 2:00 to play, why the h*** did McGuff keep them in a zone? Pressing man, or at least diamond and two chasers was called for here. Indy burned over a minute off the clock just passing it around - unexcusable. I'd bet vcash that all tOSU players knew this, but didn't have the stones to go man. Someone above mentioned 14 (tOSU) vs 41 (indy) free throws. Wow. Not entirely certain how this happened, maybe desperation on tOSU's part, slow feet, reaching in as the Indy players flashed by, or maybe even a bit from the zebras. Or maybe a bit of both. After watching the guys against MSU, might have mentioned to my wife that "Its tOSU against the world".
Kudos to tOSU women for playing very hard, even the subs, when they know their season is coming to an end with the last regular season game. I know I'd probably be lagging a tad. In summary, tOSU has a talented first five. Not so much for the other nine players. I believe they/we lose only Braxtin, with Dorkas and Patty seniors, and Greene and Jacy juniors. Also, looking at the BSB story on commitments, doesn't really appear that McDuff has any sort of Dorkas-type aircraft carrier coming to tOSU to play. Hope he reads this and gets his fanny on Zoom to the big 'uns...Go Bucks!

And, if I read Braxtin's statement correctly, all five starters will be back next year. That makes for a pretty potent team. Still, need to see a couple 6'4" ladies to commit to tOSU, as Dorkas and Patty will both be seniors next year, and those rebounds/blocks will definitely be missed. Guards are great, but gotta have the bigs to defend, clean up, and put back the misses. Now all we need is a coach that can coach. Wonder if Izzo is ready to come south to coach our women's basketball team.....

The Indiana Fever announced today they have signed last season’s sixth leading scorer in the WNBA, Kelsey Mitchell, to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
In the 2020 WNBA regular season, Mitchell finished with career high averages in scoring (17.9 ppg), assists (2.8 apg), rebounds (2.2 rpg), minutes played (32.1 mpg), field goal percentage (44.8%) and free throw percentage (84.9%). Mitchell also started all 22 regular season games, which was the first time she started every game during a WNBA regular season in her three-year career.
“Coming into the league, Kelsey has proven herself as one of the WNBA’s elite playmakers,” Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Tamika Catchings said. “Kelsey has shown incredible commitment to growing every year with the Fever, both on and off the court, and we look forward to her staying with our franchise.”
During the 2020 season, Mitchell also completed her master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Cincinnati. On that same day against the Minnesota Lynx, Mitchell became the second fastest player in franchise history to reach 1,000 career points in her 74th game with the Fever. She also became the 217th WNBA player to reach 1,000 career points that day.
Just sayin': Needless to say the WNBA pays a lot less than the NBA, she probably got something around $150K per year....

Love to see this about Kelsey. WNBA doesn't get the 'viz' that the NBA does. Nor does it get the fans, or maybe the two are interconnected? Watched WNBA while lived in San Francisco, and while several cuts below NBA, still entertaining. My take away from Script's post is that some of the upper level managerial positions with the WNBA are going to women. Great to see, as are the positions in the NBA and AD jobs in NCAA. With a daughter that is interested in traveling this career route, am overjoyed to see this. PS, now tOSU has a female Sr Asst to ? in the B10. We are seeing progress ladies and gentlemen.

Something very strange going on with the women's program when the 2 best players from the 2 past seasons transfer out. Especially when the entire starting five was supposed to be back next season and Dorka decides to hit the highway. Oh well, maybe McGuff can find something in the portal.
