Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

I read the NCAA findings, and compared to what NC and Kansas did, seems acutely unfair. I'm betting that this was self-reporting by tOSU. Also betting that the perpetrators of these events have already been let go or got goned from the university. Fencing is very obnoxious, which mostly stems around gaining practice time for the fencers. Wonder if any of the WBB team will xfer, as even though a good/great year is in the offing, tOSU will now allow them to compete in post season. Assume this means teh B10 tournament as well as NCAAs......ouch.

Thank you for the post 502 but I'm wondering about the part above if there is a mis-typed word that may have changed your meaning?(now or not)
And I do agree with those who think these sanctions are b.s. and these ladies are very deserving of being in any tournament they qualify for in 22-23.

Three storylines for No. 14 Ohio State women’s basketball exhibition game vs. Notre Dame College
The OSU women’s basketball team faces an in-state side to warm-up for Nov. 8’s season opener.

For the first time since Mar. 25, the Ohio State women’s basketball team competes on the court for fans and media to see. All-in-all, it’s a game that won’t matter in the regular season standings, and won’t be against a team that is likely to challenge the Buckeyes. Regardless, there’s a lot to take from Monday night’s exhibition.

Here are three storylines to watch for during Monday night’s spooky Halloween exhibition.

Madison Greene’s Return
The biggest attention will fall on Buckeyes point guard Madison Greene. Feb. 10, 2021 is the last time Greene’s suited up for the Scarlet & Gray for a competitive basketball game. That 628-game gap likely ends Monday, with fans finally getting a small glimpse of what Ohio State can look like with their best players on the court....

Starting Forwards
McGuff said there’s an open competition for spots entering the season, but it feels more likely inside the paint. Last year, Mikulášiková and now-graduate Braxtin Miller took four and five spots but this year it’s a toss-up.....

The Future
Monday’s exhibition and early non-conference games against smaller schools are a great time to look ahead. The Buckeyes have three freshmen this season. Outside of the aforementioned forward McMahon are guards Mya Perry and Kaia Henderson.....

OK, tOSU is still very much guard-heavy, but seems to be the norm at the collegiate level. Getting Greene back could be huge, depending on how well she blends in with the two guards from last year. At long last, seems to be a plethora of 'bigs' to snatch the rebounds off the glass. Still wish we had Dorkas, but that's ancient history. Hope someone will step up as a scorer that Dorkas was, as well as cleaning the glass. Maybe the two split those duties? Thierry (from the press coverage) seemed to do her 'all over the place' dance, which is wonderful to see her get involved, but a tad heavy on the fouls. The new kid, McMahon, seems to be the real deal, hope she is as polished as presented. Will sit back and watch to see if this coach can blend these individuals into a cohesive team. I doubt it, but he certainly can recruit. Go Bucks!

OHIO STATE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ENTERS 2022-23 SEASON WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS AHEAD OF IMMEDIATE TEST AGAINST FIFTH-RANKED TENNESSEE

Coming off of its most successful season in five years, Ohio State women’s basketball enters the 2022-23 campaign with the potential and belief that it can go even further this year.

After a one-year postseason ban prevented the Buckeyes from playing in the postseason in 2021, Ohio State won a share of the regular-season Big Ten title and made the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the second weekend of the Big Dance for the first time since 2017.

Having experienced success last season, when Ohio State went 25-7 and upset No. 3 seed LSU in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Texas in the third round, the Buckeyes are hungry for more this year.

“That was the most fun basketball that I've ever played or been a part of,” Ohio State guard Taylor Mikesell said at Big Ten Media Days in reference to last season. “Just experiencing that, I think it gives you a taste of what you want to experience more.”

Ohio State starts the year ranked 14th in the AP Top 25, the highest it’s been ranked in the preseason AP poll since the start of the 2017-18 season, and there’s good reason to believe the Buckeyes should be able to improve upon last season.

The Buckeyes return their top three scorers from a year ago – Jacy Sheldon (19.7 points per game), Mikesell (18.6) and Rebeka Mikulasikova (9.4) – while they also bring back Madison Greene, who scored 13.4 points per game and led the Buckeyes with 4.3 assists per game during the 2020-21 season before missing all of last year with a knee injury.
