Game Thread Ohio State vs TCU (Arlington, TX) - 09/15/18, 8:00PM (ABC)

Game is gonna get incredibly ugly, team is hungry, mad and more talented. Statement win which will result in a lot of soiled underpants around the country.

This. Some of the Buckeye faithful have forgotten the anger and resolve that resulted from the "August Cluster Fuck". I'm sure that the team/coaches have not. Just throw adversity at them and....well, it won't be pretty. :urban2:

Rewatching the Rutgers game today and I only see three areas that give me trepidation.

1. The lanes the DL create when they pressure and don't get there. Robinson will have to find room and get chunks from the QB position. I'm not worried about our fits anymore in the run game other than that. If our DL plays fast but recognizes the QB runs and scrambles, it'll be an extremely long day for TCU Offense.

2. Special Teams. Mainly, punt return. Punt team is outstanding and Neurenberger is super steady. Just rush the punt every time and take it where it lands. The return game is terrifying and not for good reasons. No turnovers here and we're good.

3. Stupid Penalties. PI and roughing/targeting can not only keep TCU in the game but create an advantage for them if we aren't disciplined.

It's going to be a heck of a lot of fun. God willing, no injuries for either side this weekend and we see an all time great game!

The key for the defense will be shutting down the short pass/screen game. IMO

I don't think Robinson is very accurate at all down field based on TCUs seeming unwillingness to let it fly much with him so far. Make him beat you in the middle to deep game.
I agree. The RPO can have a devastating effect on an attacking defense like ours without discipline. Fortunately, they don't have a Baker Mayfield over there running it.

I'm interested to see how this young kid reacts when he really starts getting hit. I'm actually interested in the same for our QB so really, football is still football.

Rutgers got to Dwayne a couple times last week...I don't think he'll get too shaken by a sack or two. Conversely, you can bet that Robinson won't be 100% after Nick and Chase blast his ass a couple times.

Looking over this matchup on paper, it seems we have the edge in most every category and should be no less than even otherwise (sans punt return):
- DL: OSU
- LB: Even
- DB: OSU
- OL: OSU
- QB: Even (only because both haven't had much time)
- RB: OSU
- WR: OSU
- TE: Even (cause apparently neither team knows the position exists)
- Punt: OSU
- Punt Return: TCU
- Kick Off & Kick Return: Even (not sure this matters now)
- Coaching: Even (yes, they have their HC in place and ours is at home, but, we make up for it with the best assistant coaches in the nation)

Based on that I feel like our boys handle business by 3 TD's or so; 45-21. There will be a mistake or two on D that gives up big yards and, perhaps, a return that scores or sets them up for short field. But I can't see our offense getting stopped by TCU. Feel like we'll run the ball to control pace and connect a couple nice downfield throws. Another plus for tOSU is our depth - we have plenty while they don't have nearly the numbers behind their starters. If they start to get worn down or beat up, good chance things get ugly for them quickly.

All that said, it won't come easy and Buckeyes gotta be ready to hit em hard.

O-H-!!!
