I wuldn't have called targeting either though technically by rule it was. It was certainly unnecessary roughness though.

Indeed it was a cheap targeting call cause the defender tried to do everything right but the letter of the rule has nothing to do with intent. He hit the head of a defenseless player. It's on of those that should be a 15 yard penalty but not an ejection but the rule doesn't give you that option.

A few of our players tried to do the right thing as I remember, and were ejected anyway. Total horseshit on the part of the officials, imho.

I'm still curious about that targeting call. I was always under the impression that you gained the penalty yardage regardless if the actual targeting was overturned or not?

Honestly, the Buckeyes need a lot more of Patterson's and Alex Grinch's defenses, and A WHOLE LOT less of Davis. As in, fire his ass Lane Kiffin from USC style.

A dangerous blow to the head. Looked like at least a personal foul? The refs were a horrible bunch for such a big game. Wonder what conference they were from?
Amazing game! A "playoff" atmosphere like game. A "growth" game. Still many problems to work on.
