Game Thread Ohio State vs Michigan State, 11/11/17 @ 12:00 ET (FOX)

And if they lose a few more close ones in the next ten games, you'll remember how badly it stung to also drop games like psu 08 Texas 09 in that same rough stretch.

Also USC 08 was pretty close to Iowa 17. Obviously the talent was very different, but the beatdown was comparable.

We've yet to see a Purdue 09 either. That being a closer point total does not change how awful it was.
Nahhh that USC beat down wasn't even close to last weekend. In 2008 OSU lost to arguably the best team in the country at their house. Last weekend OSU lost to a team that might finish .500 and is probably going to get destroyed by Wisconsin this up coming weekend. Iowa 2017 is going to go down as a historic loss.

To refresh everyone's coping mechanism forgetfulness, let's remember how long it actually was in current years:

2015, tough divisional loss to fake rival. Rally to win in AA, smash the domers in a NY6 bowl.
2016, win one of the greatest installments of The Game ever, only to have title hopes dashed by obliteration by Clemson
2017 crushing home loss to B12 juggernaut (playoff and Heisman bound), shocking loss to unranked B1G foe, limp to division title. Everyone else refuses to make the postseason title game chase and osu backs in, only to get beaten again soundly.

* - The tough home loss to Heisman front runner, title bound B12 team happened to both, just 2 years earlier in the tressel calendar

2018 get pantsed by TCU out of conference. Lose yet again to PSU (or MSU). Fail to win ccg because there aren't participation trophies any longer like a decade ago. Beat a broken and terrible Michigan team. Then lose a close NY6 bowl game.
2019 lose yet again to TCU, inexplicably lose to Rutgers, limp into ccg. Finally win a big OOC game against Baylor (in this hypothetical, Baylor never had the scandal)
2020 Tate Martell leads an energized, playoff berth favored OSU team, only to stumble yet again in conference, coming out flat and uninspired and forcing the committee to decide whether to let in osu with one loss after all of their past struggles in ooc games (save for the one win over Baylor).

The last 10 games have been very rough and deserving of much scorn, particularly last weekend. It's not close to the span of struggles that Tressel closed with before a pretty good but flawed 2010 regular season that ended in ruins off the field.

I've worked through anger and grieving and am ready to get back to work as a fan! Looking forward to this matchup. Urban has a long history of motivating his boys to bounce back after a loss...I'm looking for that skill set to effect this team. We need a crisp and mentally focused JT because Dantonio will have a great scheme dialed up to put the game squarely on his shoulders. Would love to see improvement on cleaning up penalties, no turnovers and an intentional effort to control the game by establishing the run. Basically I'm asking Urban to dial up TresselBall (trademark stolen by Dantonio) to make sure a somewhat fragile team gets back on track to rebuild confidence and gets on with achieving their goals winning the B1G and earning an exciting NY6 matchup. Would be fun to play the SEC champ loser and end year with good momentum and optimism about the next round of signal callers fighting to lead a loaded group of playmakers with a full year for Wilson to mold clay.

Last comment- More than anything else, we can't lose this game on a walk off field goal. MSU kickers have a knack for super lame celebrations at the 50...air windmills and slip and slides last week....kick like you've been there kids...

Who in the fuck are you?
Ouch. I've been here as long as you dude (longer). ;-) "If you don't know me by now.... you will never ever know me..."
Seriously, I stopped checking in here so frequently over the years but this is still my go-to site for Buckeye news. I just don't post much (like since 2012 or something).
Regarding the tickets. I bought OK and MSU and figured I'd sell the one I couldn't go to. Never had an issue doing that before... until now. I went to OK and my MSU tickets have been listed under face value since. No takers. I guess OSU finally found a ticket price higher than demand.

I'll cancel the milk carton.

Have to go to a damn bday party at noon Sat. The fuck? Luckily at buffalo wild wings so can watch the game, drink dranks, eat wings and leave by half time. The dad of the kid is a huge M*ch*g*n fan too. So the whole fam will be decked out in Buckeye gear. Got his kid a buckeye football (and nerf gun) wrapped in Buckeye wrapping paper and wife made those buckeye chocolates.

Yeah no clue which OSU team shows up. At least we saw the floor last Saturday though!

I firmly believe the team will be fired up and angry. I don’t look for them to be disinterested the way they seemed last week. Penn State was able to get in the backfield against MSU, so the Bucks should be able to get home much more than against Iowa.

Main concern for this one is coverage. If Lewerke has time to sling it, I can see the secondary getting severely torched. Ward has been the only solid guy out in coverage, but even he could have a tough time against these WRs.

I also know this guy has a tendency to toss it into heavy traffic, so keeping their eyes on the receivers in this one is not good. They have to be looking for the ball and trying to jump routes. Forcing some INTs in this one could be the difference between a win or a loss.

I look for it to get out of hand early. I just hope the Bucks are the ones getting off to a fast start for a change. These last few games have been brutal within the first minute or so. That needs to go our way on Saturday for once.

er what Meyer did to Tressel in the 2006 NC, the game I'll always remember is 2009 home game vs USC ie a game the Buckeyes had no business losing whatsoever.

Barkley engineers winning TD drive as USC scrapes past Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two games into his college football career, 19-year-old quarterback Matt Barkley already has a place in Southern California lore.

It was your typical Tressel game watching as a long time suffering Buckeye fan that you said to yourself ~ somehow/someway they're gonna find a way to lose this game against a true freshman qb playing his 2nd frickin' game! And Tressel had a way of never disappointing.

We now return you to Ohio State bouncing back against Sparty ...
