Game Thread Ohio State vs. Bowling Green, 09/03/16 @ 12pm ET, BTN

Having been through a few of these game 1's as a Buckeye fan, I hope that everyone is tempering their enthusiasm a little.

I guess I ask too much. Lol.

Last night I prepared the sacred Ohio State bean dip and put it in the cooling ark. It's good to have football season back. Why is it that the next 13 weeks will go by faster than any other 13 week segment of the year?

Carolina bbq ain't got no sauce, at least that is what I learned when I lived there......unless that is vinegar based basting sauce, but it looks to dark for that....:confused: What's in the rub? What wood chips are you using? Just curious, I just smoked one last weekend (cayene, garlic, onion, black pepper, sea salt, olive oil, oregano, mesquite chips) and it was awesome.

Erroneous. Carolina pork is sauced. It's just not the thick sugary/smokey sauce that people associate with bbq. It's thin and vinegar you. Google it, and you'll see that not only does it get sauce but there are sub-regional variations: Western (pretty much just cider vinegar, dk brown sugar and pepper flakes) Eastern (add some ketsup or tomato paste) and South Carolina (yellow mustard based due to large influx of krauts).

It's Western Carolina sauce in the pic. Using chinks of cherry for the wood. Don't make my own rub. I live 4 blocks north of one of the best spice merchants in the world and use their bronzeville rub + Lt brown sugar. The mop is just 50-50 cider vinegar and apple juice.
