Urban isn't about to run up the score on an academy. I'm just glad he gave him some opportunities to sling it downfield
Looked pretty good against a busted up defense.
Nah fuck that... We couldn't get our back up QB in the game because of whatever reason and we NEEDED to find out what he had. Yet we end the drive with a knee instead of seeing of he could throw a dime for a td. We already had the game won so why not give Haskins a clear look... instead we fucking lost a chance to evaluate a player who IMO looked better on his three throws then JT did all gameWas the right thing to do.
Gave the kid the chance to spin it. He showed what he can do. (Maybe more than anyone attempting to avoid a controversy would have hoped for.) Zero reason to score again, especially against an academy.
This is a key point. Army was ground down, so the resistance wasn't really there. It's JT's team, and barring an unfortunate injury, anybody hoping to see Haskins outside of garbage time is going to be bitterly disappointed. Also realize DH is playing with little at stake. Big difference there.
Exactly our back up was throwing to Walk ons but he had no problem throwing a 10 yard seam route on the numbers. And walk-ons at WR.
Watching JT vs Haskins, the ball velocity is night and day. Maybe that's why we never let him pass when there's a defender within 5 yards
I've already crowned him... too late. Haskins threw on a rope to Walk ons. Literally walk onsThis is a key point. Army was ground down, so the resistance wasn't really there. That's said, on the 4 passes he threw, the difference between his arm and JT's is quite noticeable. JT has never had the best arm, and I think it hinders this offense's ability to be explosive through the air. We may not see a true "Kevin Wilson offense" until next fall when we have that QB who has the pure natural ability to force a defense to truly respect their passing ability. At first blush, Haskins may indeed have that. But, at the same time, it was just 4 passes at the end of a blowout, so we might not want to crown him as the savior just yet.
I want to say it was his last pass, possibly second to last pass of the game. He throws in the vicinity of two defenders, on the numbers to the WR. Perfect pitch and catch.Exactly our back up was throwing to Walk ons but he had no problem throwing a 10 yard seam route on the numbers.
I've seen one drive and I'm convinced.
And walk-ons at WR.
