The first college and professional games were apparently televised in 1939. According to what I can find, the first Michigan game to be televised was the home opener against Michigan State in 1947. The 1952 Rose Bowl was the first nationally televised college game.
It seems even less impressive to boast about stats from the pre-tv era.
If anyone questioned the talent of those Michigan teams from the early 1900's, I give you the 1903 national champion Wolverines (one of their SIX RETROACTIVELY awarded titles). The game has hardly changed, has it?
