Game Thread Ohio State @ Purdue - 10/20/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

I didn't know about that quote from Coop. What I will say is that, yes... a bunch of people left the game, and I was one of them... It was shitty cold and wet, so you'll have that sometimes. But sure as shit, when I got back to the field, there were a LOT of people still left. Absent the weather, I don't know that there would have been such a departure.

That said, my seats my frosh year were in Block-O. Before the 'Cuse game (first home game) that hill-jack came up to Block-O to rally the troops. Now, looking back, I appreciate the gesture. Back then, however, I was a 17-year old frosh from North West BFE Ohio and recognized the guy for being a hick in all of 30-seconds. He never caught a break from me. I was still pretty salty about Earl... and frankly, to this day, I'm not sure that I've gotten past that.
I was never salty about Earle. Loved the guy but it was clear that Ohio State would be average by our standards as long as he stayed. Frankly, I was more salty that they hadn’t made a run at Lou Holtz while he was still at Minny. Had we picked up Holtz, the following 10 years would have been mighty different.

All this talk about leaving games early....

So, my wife was able to get tix to the Rutgers game this year. My 2 step sons have never been to a game, so we thought we'd give them first right of refusal. So, she calls them into the room and she says,

"We have 4 tickets to the game tomorrow against Rutgers. Would you like to go? Now.. before you say yes, Rutgers isn't very good and Ohio State is going to beat them badly. Also, it's supposed to rain. And we will NOT be leaving the stadium before the game is over"

Leaving a game that isn't finished isn't an option in Casa de BKB

I’ve never left the game early for any game I’ve actually been in attendance. But I’ve left the television early a few times when I “knew“ the game was over. Was naturally mortified that I had abandoned the Bucks as they won.

'85 Iowa remains to this very day the best gift (of countless gifts) the Buckeyes have ever given this particular fan.

I was older than Ralphie when it happened but it was my Red Rider Range Model Air Rifle of Buckeye wins.

Big 'ol compass in the stock

smile every time I think of it

For me it was the Rose Bowl. Those years were so good and so awful, it was finally a big win.

I've been to dozens if not more games. I can count on one hand the number of times I left before Carmen, Ohio was sung by the players.

Not Ohio State related, but my dad ensured leaving early was never an option- blowout or beatdown. The closest we ever came was the Indians/Mariners on August 5, 2001. We decided to take a long stroll from behind home plate out to left field. As we walked/toured the stadium on our exit, the Tribe continued to show signs of life. Watched a little from the 3rd base line, then took in the rest of the historic comeback from the left field bleachers with John Adams.

"And that is why you never leave early."

As far as Ohio State, I'm an out of towner where I only get to see the Buckeyes in person 2-3 times a year- hopefully 1 of those times being in Ohio Stadium. I'll be damned if I don't take in every second.

Never left a game early myself on my own accord (my father loved to beat traffic though I recall so thats not my fault) and I remember yelling at people in B deck during the Texas game in 05' for leaving once Zwick was sacked for a safety.

I've shut off two games on TV since I've started watching though. First was Iowa last year when it was clear we'd given up and second was this year against PED when they scored to go up 13 with under 7 minutes.

Turned back on the PED game though right as Victor scored. Definately wasn't proud of counting the guys out on that game though

Not at our house either. We live in Texas, and are admittedly hooked on the Buckeyes. From the time the drum row marches out of the North tunnel until the very
last Carmen Ohio, I'm glued to my seat.

I very seldom get to see the Bucks in person, but when I do, they have to root me out after the band marches out.

:oh: :urban2:
