Game Thread Ohio State @ Nebraska - 09/28/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

Hello everyone. My name is knapplc, and I'm a Husker Fan.

You may remember me from such hits as: 2011, when the Big Ten joined Nebraska, or 2012, which is the last time I think I posted here after the Buckeyes curb-stomped us in C-Bus.

It was great getting back on the field with you guys last year after not playing you since that debacle in 2012, and it was a great game (featuring a Hall of Fame onside-kick attempt by your favorite corn-themed conference rival!) even if you all did pull out the win. The Huskers are 1-2 against the Buckeyes, and we are RARING to get back to .500 as conference mates!

Now, don't be scared. I know you know about the Blackshirts (see my avatar from a couple years ago) and I know you know we have a Quarterback and like six other skill players that should be playing in the NFL right now, but I ***legit*** think you guys have a chance in Saturday's game.

Game Day is coming to Lincoln again, which is becoming a HUGE habit for these guys, and I don't want the Buckeyes to get overwhelmed by the glitz and glamor of it all. This is a big stage for you, and you just have to breathe. Four counts in, hold, four counts out. You got this.

Let's see, things to talk about since the last time I was here... Taylor Martinez is gone but his cousin Adrian is doing things. Good things. Former Buckeye Bo Pelini has moved on, and we had this guy named Mike Riley for a while who - I kid you not - is still muddling around in the college football world somewhere.

But the big news in HuskerVille is that we've brought back Wunderkind Scott Frost, who led UCF to the National Championship over the team that beat the other National Champion in 2017. Frost has Nebraska running smooth on all cylinders and currently features a gaudy 7-9 record (4-6 in the B1G!). After taking 2018 Conference Champion Illinois to the woodshed last week, the Huskers should be ready for Ohio State.

So good luck, let's have fun, and may the best Huskers win.

You sound like Oregonsockpuppet’s verbose cousin. Welcome back:beer:

Nebraska is a hard team to get a read on.

They really havent played particularly well all around in any of their games (except maybe NIU)

Offense put up big yards against a bad Illinois team, but also almost lost the game on account of being a turnover machine.

They have talent in certain spots but overall nowhere near what Ohio State has.

Id expect them to come out fired up and play inspired at home, but in the end this should still end up a multiple score win for the good guys.

This is exactly where I am. They are an extremely difficult read. I think that they have the kind of talent, combined with a home night game to make it far more interesting than I think we care to have them make it... but... they also have the ability to put the ball on the ground a lot and seemingly play down.

They are all over the place. But I do expect them to show up on Saturday night.

We actually played really poorly against NIU. And we were so amped up against Illinois that we made quite a few errors. If we're all jacked up like that again, we'll get boatraced.

I had to put the defib machine on Knapp after the Colorado game.....

I can see a boatracing because of, well...
We rank last in fumbles lost, right behind the team that got plungered up in Madison last Saturday.
We rank third from last in total turnovers lost, right ahead of New Mexico State and Hawaii.
We're 111th in penalty yardage (263), tied for 80th in penalties per game, tied for 94th in total penalties.

Was supposed to be at the game in Lincoln, but unfortunately will be watching it from a hospital bed. I've been trying to convince my wife she needs to bring our big screen to the hospital but so far she's not buying it.
Looking for the Bucks to cover again, something like 42-17.
O-H!

Get well soon. Nursing my wife back from her cancer treatments, so I feel ya.

It's sometimes the small things...

1. Turnovers
2. Penalties
3. Special teams

Those things can add up to be a big problem if you aren't squared away there. I know you don't have a kicker right? Or you're using your starting safety?

I’ll take the counter approach. I’m loving this team but still have Iowa and Purdue flashbacks. I feel better about this year’s side and Day’s ability to keep them focused and I’m glad it’s a national night game which makes it that much tougher to be complacent. However, the game’s not going to win itself. If we start believing our own hype and let it get away from us, it could be tough to get it back in that environment.

Purdue and Iowa always in my mind for this type of game. I'm cocky going in it and think Buckeyes win comfortably BUT those games too fresh in my mind

I’m reminded of the Purdue game with Pryor at QB, as well. It’s a bit of a cliche, but true: we get everyone’s best, at least out of the gate. We don’t have the luxury of waiting out the storm. Our competition isn’t the B1G but they’ll beat us if we take them lightly. We need to come out hard and put the conference teams away. Our competition is south of the Mason Dixon and I think this year we can be right in there with them, but if we fuck around in Lincoln, etc, we won’t get to show it.
