Interested to see how OSU does in their first real challenge. Although Nebraska isn't as improved as I thought they'd be, I'm still wary of Frost and some of the players they have on offense. Defense has been great and should be able to hold them to around 20, if not lower depending on turnovers, etc.

Fields will probably have some nerves, so need the run game to carry the first few drives. I think it'd be a good game to throw QB carries into the mix as well. Not that many, but I like the idea of making the defense worry about it early and keeping them a bit off balance the rest of the game.

Like any market, there is a lot that goes into the price. It isn't as simple as getting 50/50 action.

First thing to consider is that OSU is one of the bigger public money teams in sports, like the Yankees or Cowboys, so their lines tend to be slightly inflated for that reason.Another factor this week is that OSU has covered big three weeks in a row. Lastly, for now, don't read too much into line movement until it goes through critical numbers like 14 and 17. Opening at 15 and moving to 16.5 isn't a big deal in terms of movement.

If it goes up through 17 it's worth noting. Is it caused by heavy OSU action? Do they know something about an injury or other inside info?

These are, some of, the variables that drive betting markets.

Certainly Cincy is better on defense but this will probably be the most dangerous offense we play all year.

That said IMO if anyone wants to beat our bucks this year you need a good defense first. If Illinois went for 200+ rushing on them with no threat throwing the ball we should control the LOS.

Another requirement to beat the Buckeyes this year is an OL that can at least get a stalemate against the OSU DL. Nebraska doesn’t have anything of the kind. After watching their game vs the Illini, the Buckeye DL owning the los is the one thing I am absolutely certain of.

This is a game we’ll learn a lot from; first road night game, dynamic running QB, a tough, athletic receiver. But this is not a game that ought to be close. Martinez and Spielman might make some plays, but our playmakers will have a lot more opportunities because of the Buckeye big men owning both lines of scrimmage.

In the 2017 Nebraska game, Spielman tore up Ohio State's defense, with 11 receptions for 200 yards and a 77-yard touchdown....

But Ohio State won the game 56-14, and racked up 633 yards of total offense. I expect something similar this year, maybe 45-17.

Yea I agree...I'm trying to temper my expectations for this game though.

The big thing is yes Nebraska has 2 really fine WRs in Spielman/Robinson but we have Okudah/Arnette/Wade so the liklihood of either of those 2 going off isn't great.

If we stop the UN run game and avoid the bad turnovers we will roll.

I'm not so sure. If it wasn't a night game I would full on board with your take. Nebraska will play off of adrenaline but the werewolf serum will wear off after the half. We win, 42-24.

Meanwhile in Hornhusker nation, they are debating whether or not to rush the field if they win hahahaha

This team has played in so many primetime night games on the road that this won't be anything new.

If anything that adrenaline could cause UN to do something dumb early. An unnecessary penalty, an unnecessary shot they don't need to take, or just a mistake in general. It cuts both ways and if UN doesn't control themselves early again it could get away from them.

Hello everyone. My name is knapplc, and I'm a Husker Fan.

You may remember me from such hits as: 2011, when the Big Ten joined Nebraska, or 2012, which is the last time I think I posted here after the Buckeyes curb-stomped us in C-Bus.

It was great getting back on the field with you guys last year after not playing you since that debacle in 2012, and it was a great game (featuring a Hall of Fame onside-kick attempt by your favorite corn-themed conference rival!) even if you all did pull out the win. The Huskers are 1-2 against the Buckeyes, and we are RARING to get back to .500 as conference mates!

Now, don't be scared. I know you know about the Blackshirts (see my avatar from a couple years ago) and I know you know we have a Quarterback and like six other skill players that should be playing in the NFL right now, but I ***legit*** think you guys have a chance in Saturday's game.

Game Day is coming to Lincoln again, which is becoming a HUGE habit for these guys, and I don't want the Buckeyes to get overwhelmed by the glitz and glamor of it all. This is a big stage for you, and you just have to breathe. Four counts in, hold, four counts out. You got this.

Let's see, things to talk about since the last time I was here... Taylor Martinez is gone but his cousin Adrian is doing things. Good things. Former Buckeye Bo Pelini has moved on, and we had this guy named Mike Riley for a while who - I kid you not - is still muddling around in the college football world somewhere.

But the big news in HuskerVille is that we've brought back Wunderkind Scott Frost, who led UCF to the National Championship over the team that beat the other National Champion in 2017. Frost has Nebraska running smooth on all cylinders and currently features a gaudy 7-9 record (4-6 in the B1G!). After taking 2018 Conference Champion Illinois to the woodshed last week, the Huskers should be ready for Ohio State.

So good luck, let's have fun, and may the best Huskers win.

I think Indiana and Nebraska would be a good game. I think Indiana has a better defense but Nebraska has a better offense. Nebraska and Wisconsin have the worst special teams in the conference with MSU earning Honorable Mention.

Nebraska is not holding us under 50. They do not have a good run defense. My prediction is we have over 300 yards rushing. Day will establish the run to keep their offense on the sideline...especially if we get a sizeable lead.

I say 63-21 Buckeyes.

Pumped as hell for this one and glad a night game. Will be finishing the Saranac 6 hikes in Adirondacks with my 3 year old (on my back) during the day. 2 summit's left!!! Buckeyes shucking Corn and pounding Jack Daniels will be an excellent reward. Martinez may give the D fits through 1st half and Washington is a small but fast back. 24-16 at half. 48-22 finish

I agree with you but the final score lol... if we throw down 63 on UN I'll be very very impressed.

I think being in a hostile environment on the road we will absolutely lean on our running game and defense.

I'm thinking 45 to 20.

Scott Frost is impressed with what he's seen from Ohio State this year.

After watching the film from the Buckeyes' first four wins of the season against Florida Atlantic, Cincinnati, Indiana and Miami (Ohio), Nebraska's head coach said he believes Ohio State has taken a step forward from last season, when the Buckeyes went 13-1 and defeated the Cornhuskers 36-31 at Ohio Stadium.

“There's no question in my mind that Ohio State's a better team right now than they were a year ago,” Frost said during Nebraska's press conference on Monday.

That response came after he was asked about first-year Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, who will face Nebraska for the first time as a head coach on Saturday in Lincoln. While Day had big shoes to fill following the departure of Urban Meyer, Frost said he is not surprised by the Buckeyes' early success with Day.

“Number one, he's got a really talented team,” Frost said. “They're good in all three phases. They have, I think, future Sunday players all across their lineup. He's really smart. I met Ryan for the first time at a Chip Kelly golf tournament in Maine many years ago. He's done a good job everywhere he's gone.”



Frost described Ohio State as “really good on offense, really good on defense and really good on special teams, and they keep pressure on you in all three phases.”

Asked specifically about Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young, Frost had high praise for the Buckeyes' offensive and defensive stars, too.

Frost admitted that coming into the season, he wasn't sure how well Fields would do as a first-year starting quarterback at Ohio State, but he's impressed by what he's seen from Fields so far this year.

“He throws it really well, runs it really well,” Frost said. “Their offense has been efficient. They've got playmakers all over the field to help him. He's a pretty special player.”
