Game Thread Ohio State @ Nebraska - 09/28/19, 7:30PM (ABC)

Tom Allen put a lot into his crack at the Buckeyes; but plans go up in smoke pretty fast when the other team’s players are that much better..

Have you seen the Nebraska guards play? They will have zero chance against the Buckeye DL. How do you suppose Frost will keep it close with our tackles camped in his backfield?

The question then becomes whether it will ever be called.

I hope you're exactly right.

Not only that guys but they have no kicker...

So that means they are looking to score TDs against this defense? Geez good luck. Knowing they don't have a kicker that'll lead them to press and when you press when the space and time are limited in the red zone you make mistakes.

Then on top of that even if they do score we should always have good field position since their kickoff coverage is an issue too.

I really like Frost and their offense but to win this game UN is going to have to cause big time turnovers and their defense is going to have to play lights out.

I'm just not seeing how they will consistently challenge either side of our team, and we know we'll win the special teams battle.

If you PROMISE not to tell, I will let you in on a little secret plan we have to counter your pass rush.

We're just going to let your guys come through for a couple of plays. Right through.

And then:

I had PlayStation Vue, until earlier today

Seeing someone on this thread mention YouTube TV reminded me that my 16 year old son recommended that to me awhile back. I looked into it and made the switch today.

Everything I had with PlayStation Vue plus better DVR functionality and terms, less money.

I still don’t have a “back” button, but at least I can continue to watch a game while I choose the next game to switch to, and the iPad app shows me which games/(shows) are in commercial before I switch.

And if it turns out to have issues, I can go back to PS Vue, no harm done
Not to hijack the game thread but..

DBB: It was down to Vue, YTTV and Hulu for me. Vue was the only one with ALL the sports networks I wanted. YTTV doesn't have the NFL Network. I have the "Core" tier with Vue. It is about $5/mo more than YTTV. I'm finding that I don't watch the MLB and NFL networks as much as I thought (read: not at all), so I'm contemplating switching to Hulu. They are$10/mo less than Vue and $5/mo less than YTTV, but with no NFL or MLB Networks. I'm loving Vue right now, but I'm on the introductory price of $45/mo for the first two months. Then it goes to $55. Not sure I want to pay that.

I'm interested in your experience with Youtube. Let me know.

Hello. I'd like to introduce you to a scientific phenomenon known as "That's fucking holding". "That's fucking holding" occurs when you have a team like Ohio State play a team like anybody fucking else. Since Ohio State is likely better on the DLine than anybody fucking else is on the OLine....the refs feel kind of bad for anybody fucking else. Hidden in this sympathy for anybody fucking else's garbage blocking, is what is known as Free Holding. Go ahead and hold. It won't be called 4 times out of 5. It certainly won't be called early. Just grab a little jersey. It's ok.

LLOL (literally lol)

And on top of that, it seems that B1G officials are calling holding less often this year across all B1G games in general (that's a mouthful, I know, but it sure seems that way to me).

So yeah... totally agree that "That's fucking holding" could and probably will affect this game.

But I believe that the difference in athleticism is so great that Devon Hamilton and Co. will still be disruptive.

Did you catch Tom Allen's pre-game speech against UConn? He gave another fiery, all pumped up, go-get-em speech again last Saturday. For some reason, the pre-game speech worked against UConn.

I think he'll need to tone it down some. The players can only hear that stuff and believe it a handful of times each year, otherwise it's just another pre-game screaming that they'll hardly be paying attention to.

We've played twice at Nebraska, in 2011 (34-27 loss) and in 2017 (56-14 win). In the 2001 loss, Braxton Miller got hurt in the third quarter with the Bucks up 27-13 and had to leave the game, after which Nebraska scored 21 straight points to win. In the 6 1/2 quarters where we've had our starting QB available, we've outscored Nebraska 83-27 on their field, which extrapolates out to a 102-33 total for eight full quarters or an average score of 51-17 for the two games. Both our offense and defense may be better than our last trip to Lincoln. If our players stay healthy, and played disciplined and focused, this could indeed end up being a major plungering.

FIFY.

The more I think about this game the more I come to a few things.

1. We hold a very big advantage in special teams. Our punter is a weapon and they have no kicker right now.
2. They're not good in the penalty department.
3. They're not great at avoiding turnovers.

Not only is UN asking their offense to move the ball against what I feel is the best defense in college ball, but because they have no kicker they're asking them to score TDs. That's a really really tough ask and they'd be wise to try and break a play from 40+ yards out because inside the 20 we can really bear down.

I won't lie I'm slighlty worried about Fields being too pumped up and the offense sputtering some. With that said I think we've played 2 defenses that are equal to what UN will show us.

If our offense is going early look out.
