No. 5 Ohio State downs #41 Indiana 7-0

Sometimes I wonder if people get annoyed that these articles from the OSU website are linked here, cause readers to get bogged down or take up space on BP. Until someone says enough, I'll keep up with the tennis updates.

Article excerpts from the official OSU tennis site

The home winning streak is bound to last a long time.

Northwestern Women's Lacrosse (which I'm guessing was the next closest streak in the Big Ten) just lost at home today for the first time in 6 years.

Penn State Women's volleyball has been undefeated for a long time as well.

From the OSU official Tennis website

On a sunny afternoon on senior day, the fifth-ranked Ohio State men's tennis team defeated No. 17 Illinois, 6-1, Sunday at Stickney Tennis Center. With the win, the Buckeyes (27-1; 8-0 Big Ten) take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten standings, while the Illini (15-9; 7-1 Big Ten) dropped its first conference match of the season. . .

Senior co-captains Justin Kronauge and Mike O'Connell were honored following their final home match of their Buckeye careers. The 2010 senior class is the winningest class in program history with 156 career wins. Kronauge and O'Connell have not lost at home or against a Big Ten opponent since joining the team in 2005-06.
"We had an unbelievable doubles point to begin the match," Tucker said. "The guys fought hard for the seniors today. We know we have to play our best because any given day, a team can come out and beat us. This was a good team we faced and our guys continued to get after it on the courts. We are going to miss Mike and Justin next season."

You're right on this one - it looks like PSU's women's volleyball home winning streak is now at 94 and counting. Although it's less in time than NW lacrosse's was, they have a higher number of wins, which is what matters. They crossed my mind when I made my post yesterday, but I didn't bother to look it up. :wink2: They lose a few 4-year players, so they might get beat next season.

The PSU men had a long home winning streak (4 years) in volleyball which was broken by tOSU last month. :osu:

OSU bumps up to #4 in latest ITA rankings.

In the ITA rankings for D1 teams released April 20 the Buckeyes passed USC moving from 5th to 4th place.
The victories over #14 Illinois and #19 Mississippi last week gave the Bucks enough points to draw within .97 points of overtaking Texas for the #3 ranking and a valuable 3rd seed in the upcoming NCAA team championship tournament in May.

More good news was received for Buckeye's #1 singles player Chase Buchanan who moved from #12 to #10 in the ITA single's rankings this week.
Also ranked for the Buckeyes in the ITA single's rankings was Justin Kronauge who came in at #40 an improvement from #41 last week.
Dino Marcan, Devin McCarthy and Steven Williams also were ranked 103, 119, and 118 respectively.

In the ITA double's rankings Chase Buchanan and Dino Marcan moved up to the #10 spot from #16 last week. They are positioned to be a strong contender for one of the prized seeds in the NCAA individual double's tournament.

#2 or #3 doesnt matter, as long as you can stay away from the #1 Wahoos until the championship game.

Exactly right LJ, this is my hope as well. Would love to see Buckeyes edge out the Longhorns for that #3 seed.
A semifinal with tOSU vs. Tenn and USC/Texas vs. UVa would benefit Buckeyes and be a nightmare potentially for Va.
USC is going to make some noise in the tourney and an upset over UVA is a strong and likely outcome of the semifinal #1 vs. 4/5.
On the opposite side, I really like how tOSU would match up with Tennessee. Tennessee is strong in doubles but they are vulnerable at 3-6 in singles.
