After taking down two SEC opponents on the road earlier this week, the third-ranked Ohio State men's tennis team will host its third home doubleheader this weekend, facing No. 62 Penn State at noon and Cleveland State at 6 p.m. Sunday. The match vs. the Nittany Lions is scheduled to be played at the Stickney Tennis Center, while the evening match will take place at The Ohio State University Varsity Indoor Tennis Center. . .
THE PENN STATE NITTANY LIONS
Penn State, ranked 62nd in the polls, is 12-3 overall this year. Last time out, the Nittany Lions downed Middle Tennessee State, 4-1, March 20. Penn State began the year winning 11 of 12 matches. In Big Ten play, the Nittany Lions defeated Purdue, 6-1, at University Park, Pa., March 7. Penn State has lost to Harvard (4-1) March 19 and Georgia Tech (4-2) Jan. 30.
. . . Under 11th-year head coach Ty Tucker, the Buckeyes are 11-0 against Penn State. The team has not suffered a loss vs. the Nittany Lions since the 1998-99 campaign.
THE CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS
The Cleveland State Vikings are 9-5 overall this season. Last time out, the Vikings dropped a 6-1 match to Embry-Riddle March 17 to conclude a spring break trip in Florida. During the trip, the team dropped three of four matches with the lone win coming against Florida Atlantic (4-3) March 14. Cleveland State began the year winning seven of eight matches.

The No. 3 Ohio State men's tennis team completed its third home doubleheader of the season after downing Cleveland State, 4-0, Sunday at The Ohio State University Varsity Indoor Tennis Center. The Buckeyes have now won 103 consecutive home matches, dating back to 2003. . .
Sophomore Steven Williams defeated Jay Jones 6-2, 6-0, at No. 6 singles to help give the Buckeyes their 18th win of the year. Williams, a native of Manlius, N.Y., is 14-3 overall and has won his last eight matches.
In doubles, the Buckeyes cruised to the first point of the match in less than half an hour. At No. 1, juniors Matt Allare and Shuhei Uzawa swept Robert Fox and John Haley, 8-0. The Buckeye duo is now tied for the team lead in wins with 12 victories this season.
Highlighting the doubles play at No. 3 where senior co-captains Justin Kronauge and Mike O'Connell, who played together for the first time this year. After undergoing left shoulder surgery at the end of last summer, O'Connell made his season debut with Kronauge and picked up his first win of the year. The two classmates swept Phil Orno and Aris Spirtos, 8-0, to give Ohio State a 1-0 advantage over the Vikings.
In singles, each completed match was in straight sets. No. 26 Kronauge downed Fox 6-0, 6-2, to improve to an impressive 21-3 overall this season, which leads the team. The native of Dayton, Ohio, is now tied for second on the all-time career wins list with former Buckeye Vince Ng (1999-03) with 132 victories.
At No. 4, No. 117 Uzawa followed Kronauge with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Chris Kelpatz. He improves to 16-12 overall.
Ohio State will hit the road to take on two Big Ten opponents. The Buckeyes will face Iowa at 2 p.m. ET April 2 in Iowa City, followed by a match in Minneapolis vs. Minnesota at 1 p.m. ET April 4.
