[*]The Buckeyes have a chance to clinch its 14th consecutive Big Ten title this week when it closes out the regular season with matches against Purdue and Indiana
[*]A win on Friday evening vs. Purdue would give the Buckeyes at least a share of the Big Ten Championship and would secure the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
[*]The Buckeyes have not lost to Purdue under Ty Tucker, winning all 20 matches since 2000
[*]Sunday’s match with Indiana will be Senior Day as Ohio State will honor Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert following the match.
[*]Joyce earned All-America honors last season when he and Mikael Torpegaard finished runner-up in the NCAA Doubles Championship. The Hinsdale, Ill., native has been a mainstay in the Buckeyes’ lineup ever since he stepped foot on campus. He has more than 100 doubles wins and is just five wins shy of 200 combined wins for his career..
[*]Tubert is one of the best doubles players in the country. He was in the top-10 nationally last year with 31 doubles wins and he has already matched that total this year. He has not lost a doubles match this yet this spring as he is 22-0. His next doubles win will be the 100th of his career.
[*]After losing the first two matches of Tucker’s tenure to Indiana, the Buckeyes have reeled-off 20 in a row vs. the Hoosiers.
[*]On the strength of the win over No. 14 Illinois, the Buckeyes jump back up No. 1 in the ITA rankings. This will be the seventh week this season the team has been ranked No. 1. They also spent seven weeks in the top spot in 2014.
[*]Of course JJ Wolf remains No. 1 in the singles rankings as he is now 27-0 following his win over No. 6 Aleks Kovacevic.
[*]John McNally picked up his eighth win over a ranked opponent on Sunday and bumped up to No. 23. Kyle Seelig continues to roll as he is ranked No. 56 and James Trotter checks in at No. 103.
[*]In doubles, Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert remain in the top-10 at No. 9 while Joyce and Wolf are at No. 30. Seelig and Alex Kobelt are just ahead of them at No. 28 and Kobelt and Trotter jump up 10 spots to No. 45.
Re: Sunday’s match with Indiana will be Senior Day as Ohio State will honor Martin Joyce and Hunter Tubert following the match.
Just sayin': (Looking ahead) What are chances that everyone else comes back next year?
1. #1 JJ Wolf
2. #28 John McNally
3. ̶M̶a̶r̶t̶i̶n̶ ̶J̶o̶y̶c̶e̶ ̶ Tim Seibert
4. #54 Kyle Seelig
5. Alex Kobelt
6. James Trotter
Re. chances of everyone returning...
Wolf is good enough to play on the money circuit yesterday, if he returns next year it will say much!
Bucks have clinched a share of 14th straight title.
Dubs takes point one and Wolf, Kobelt, and Siebert at #6 add victories to seal the win over Boilers.
Edit; Seelig, Joyce and McNally finish in straight sets for a 7-0 sweep.
