Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Looks like the "Horns" are now #1. They beat #6 Baylor and #10 TCU last week and junped up from 4th (71.595 points) to 1st (74.516 points). Ohio State beat Nebraska and #48 Iowa; and went from #1 (74.722 points) to #2 (73.484 points). Go figure....:roll1:
Well, they beat two top-10 teams while we beat an unranked team and one barely on the top 50. Oh yeah, they also just beat us 4-1 head-to-head a few weeks back. I don't see how anyone could have a problem with this.

My only concern was that they beat us on 17 Feb 19, and we still retained the the #1 ranking for 7 more weeks/rankings, etc. Texas was our last loss, they were #3 back in the end of Feb 19; and now they jump us from the #4 position; why didn't they jump us back then?

I do not have any problems with it but with regard to the head-to-head match you must realize that we played them without our #1 singles player Wolf.
Also, maybe the ITA was giving Texas a cookie because they fired their tennis coach who was involved in the admissions scandal.

Buckeyes defeated #1 ranked Texas at a neutral site in the ITA indoors in Feb. lost at Texas without JJ Wolf, so the series is tied 1-1.
RE. the ITA computer rankings, their formula is a bit of a challenge to explain....
The College Tennis rankings website has values of this weeks rankings and the math projected for next weeks ranking.
What is most valuable for the formula are wins over top 25 teams.
A win over the #1 ranked team is 106 points, #2 is 102 points, 98, 94, 91 etc.
Wins at opponent's court add 10% bonus. Losses are subtracted but they are largely inconsequential and miniscule.
The ITA formula takes the average of the top wins, (number of wins increase over the season, currently 9, will be 10).
A look at the rankings shows that Buckeyes have a stronger resume in the top three wins, but are softer in their lower numbers, (4-9).
Buckeyes have a chance at Illinois on Sunday to add a big number (75.9) to their total.
If they can get that win, and get some help, Bucks might get the #1 ranking back.
Go Bucks!

Please oh please let this be the year

Re: The Wake Forest men was crowned national champions, Petros Chrysochos of Wake Forest secured the singles title at the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships held at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

As the 2018 season comes to a close, the focus shifts to Orlando and the USTA National Campus, the site of next year’s season-ending event. The 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships will be held for the first time at the USTA National Campus May 16-25.

At least nobody will have to play the #1 team on their home courts this year for the National Championship.....

With a 6-1 win over No. 18 South Carolina today, No. 3 Florida clinched the SEC title with an undefeated season in conference play.
The 12-0 record marks the first time since 2003 that the Gators have completed league action undefeated. The outright regular season title is also the first for Florida in 16 years. Been a long drought for us. The women have been carrying us for years.

Man, you guys seem to hitting on all cylinders at the right time. Should be a great tourney. Best of luck.

It would be nice if the Buckeyes would meet up with the SEC champs and show them what tennis is all about

Just keep any of those Big-10 human-crab hybrids out of the Tourney. Maybe its just an Illinois thing.
