Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Hey Gracel, does tennis team still do their indoor dance at St. John's? Or will the new tennis complex have indoor courts? (Or have I missed this on the schematic?) Go Bucks!

Good question, The new ty Tucker complex will replace the present indoor courts, The team Jan-March plays home matches indoors at the Varsity tennis center on Henderson road. This is an adequate indoor venue but obviously the new center will be a $21 million showcase and state of the art indoor facility.
Love the location adjacent to outdoor venue, lockers, offices for both in out venue, and next to training facilities at the whac. It offers easy transition for weather. Would love to see ground breaking in time for 2019... however,
I didn't notice in The OSU press release a projected time frame for completion.

ITA link for draws and schedules.
I Will be interested to see:
1. If the strong momentum from this summer's appearances carries over to this fall season, esp with Wolf, McNally, Joyce and Seelig.

Gracel, played at Varsity tennis center while getting MBA, when it was a private club (?). Great venue, albeit a bit of a trek from campus. Please keep up the good work reporting on who, what, where and when......Go Bucks!

PS, would rather see all sports on/close to campus, allowing students to attend easily. Especially the non-revenue sports.

Buckeyes are making news not just with championships and facilities but also with recruiting.
Tucker pulls in another blue chip recruit in the class of 2019, the TRN third ranked player in his class, Conner Kingsley.
He is the ITF number 36 junior in the world, advanced to the round of 16 at both the Wimbledon juniors and US open juniors. Kingsley also partnered with Buckeye sophomore McNally to win a Rochester NY pro futures doubles title in June.

Yes, a new commitment, this 2019 grad haul will be a strong OSU class. Another potential recruit is a blue chip from New Albany. He is coached by former Buckeye Kevin Metka. Three top 25 recruits in one class with 4.5 shared scholarships for the whole team is mind boggling.

Yeah, I know it is probably a "Title IX thing"; but the NCAA scholarship limit is kind of goofy, women's tennis is allowed 8.

Two Buckeye Singles players (Wolf, Seelig) advanced to the 2nd round yesterday. They will seek to advance to the 16's this morning.
McNally's draw was vs. #1 seed Borges. An extraordinary effort would have been required, but John dropped a 3-6, 4-6 match.
In addition both doubles teams (Tubert/Joyce, Kobelt/Seelig) won. Joyce/Tubert pulled an upset over the #5 seed. Both teams advance to the round of 16 this afternoon.

Seelig dropped the first set 1-6, down a break 2-4 but rallies to win 5 of 6 and take the second 7-5, now heading to a third set.
Kyle is conditioned for the long haul, the deeper the tourney goes, the better he performs when others are fatigued.
