Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

The OSU men's tennis official site posted this Recap of the 7-0 win Friday over Purdue.

Today's match vs. Indiana will be the attempt to extend the consecutive home win streak to 163, the longest in history for any NCAA sport.
Pretty special and lofty accomplishment by Coach Tucker and the OSU men's tennis program.

Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The fifth-ranked Ohio State men?s tennis team beat Purdue, 7-0, Friday night at the Varsity Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 17-2 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten, while the Boilermakers drop to 13-4 and 0-1 in the Big Ten.

Freshman Constantin Christ clinched the victory for the Scarlet and Gray at No. 6 singles. Christ needed just two sets to defeat Arthur Dorbradin, 6-1, 6-0. Christ improves to 14-2 on the season and 9-0 in dual play.

The two other victories needed to reach four points came from wins at Nos. 4 and 5 singles.
Connor Smith surrendered just two points en route to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Evan Hawkins on court four. In fifth singles Chris Diaz was a 6-2, 6-1 winner vs. Mateus Silva.

Doubles Dominance
With wins on all three courts, the Buckeyes captured the doubles point for the 18th time this season. The first Buckeye victory came from the 51st-ranked tandem of Blaz Rola and Kevin Metka when they finished at No. 3 doubles with an 8-3 victory over Pawel Poziomski and Mark Kovacs. Rola and Metka have now won 11 consecutive matches, all on court three. Next, the No. 16-ranked pair of Peter Kobelt and Smith finished their match on court No. 2 with an 8-3 win of their own vs. Szymon Tatarcyzk and Krisztian Krocsko. Last, but not least, the 28th-ranked duo of Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelendefeated Aaron Dujovne and Diego Acosta 8-3.

Singles Story
After securing the doubles point, the Buckeyes needed just three singles wins to clinch the victory over Purdue. The first of those three victories came from Diaz, a 6-2, 6-1 winner over Silva. Smith then won 6-0, 6-2 over Hawkins, while Christ clinched the match on court No. 6 with a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Dorbradin.

The three remaining singles matches were played out after the fourth point was clinched, with each match a Buckeye victory. McCarthy defeated Tatarcyzk 7-5, 6-0. Next, in first singles, Rola, ranked 20th, was victorious in a super-tie-breaker over Kovacs, 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-7). Finally, on court No. 3, Van Engelen rallied from a set down to beat Poziomski 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

#4 Diaz lost the first set but is ahead in the 2nd.
Edit Diaz won the 2nd and is in a super tiebreaker to determine a winner at #4.

Results
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The fifth-ranked Ohio State men's tennis improved its home win streak to 163 matches during the course of 10 years after it defeated Indiana, 7-0, Sunday afternoon in the Varsity Tennis Center. The Buckeyes, who are 18-2 overall, including a 3-0 record in the Big Ten, suffered its last loss at home to Illinois in April 5, 2003, a 5-2 setback.
Ohio State will hit the road for three consecutive matches vs. Big Ten opponents Nebraska March 29 and Iowa March 31 and Kentucky April 3 before returning to Columbus for an April 5 match vs. Wisconsin at 6 p.m.
The match-winning point was earned by Connor Smith, ranked 37th, on court No. 5. The senior from Tampa, Fla., defeated Dimitrije Tasic 6-1, 6-4. The additional singles victories needed to reach four points came first from Devin McCarthy with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Isade Juneau and Hunter Callahan, who beat Chris Essick 6-4, 6-1.
Doubles Duals
The Buckeyes won the doubles point for the 19th time this season. Each doubles team won their respective matches by an 8-6 score. The 28th-ranked duo of McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen defeated Josh MacTaggert and Daniel Bednarczyk. The second Ohio State victory was recorded by Blaz Rola andKevin Metka, the Buckeye tandem that forms the 51st-ranked doubles team in the country. Rola and Metka were winners over Tasic and Essick on court three. The final doubles match to finish featured a pair of ranked teams in No. 16 Peter Kobelt and Smith vs. No. 31 Sam Monette and Juneau. Kobelt and Smith successfully maintained the Ohio State doubles shutout.
Finishing Up
Three Buckeyes played out their matches. On court No. 2, the 20th-ranked Rola beat MacTaggert 6-0, 6-4. Next off the court was No. 3 Kobelt, who won 6-4, 6-4 against Sam Monette. In the final match to finish, No. 45 Chris Diaz improved to 13-3 with a 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) win over Bednarczyk.

Ohio State will travel to Lincoln, Neb., where the Buckeyes and Cornhuskers will commence at 4 p.m. March 29.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The seventh-ranked Ohio State men's tennis team improved to 19-2 overall, 4-0 in the Big Ten and 11-2 vs. ranked opponents with a 6-1 victory over Nebraska in Lincoln.
Clinching the match for the Buckeyes was No. 13 Blaz Rola, who was a 7-6 (2), 6-1 winner over Andre Stenger in second singles. Rola remains undefeated this season improving to 15-0 in dual play and 11-0 on court No. 1.
Doubles Sweep
The Buckeyes jumped out to a 1-0 advantage with a sweep of the doubles matches. The first of three doubles victories came on court three with the tandem of Rola and Hunter Callahan winning 8-3 over Brandon Videtich and Scott Elsass. The 13th-ranked team of Peter Kobelt and Connor Smith defeated the team of Stenger and Eric Sock 8-4 on court No. 1. The 27th-ranked duo of Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen completed the sweep with an 8-4 victory over Bradford Zitsch and Dusty Boyer in second doubles.
Singles Action
The Buckeyes won five-out-of-six singles matches vs. Nebraska. First to claim victory was No. 4 Kobelt, who won 6-1, 6-3 against Boyer on court two. Next to taste victory for the Buckeyes was 59th-rankedChris Diaz. The redshirt freshman defeated Andrew Dzulynsky 6-1, 6-0. Rola earned the fourth point for Ohio State, clinching the match as a 7-6 (2), 6-1 winner over Stenger.
Finishing Up
Following Rola's win, the Buckeyes went 2-1 in the remaining matches. No. 83 McCarthy beat Marc Herrmann 6-3, 6-1 and Constantin Christ defeated Sebastian Florczyk 6-3, 6-2. No. 43 Smith was the only Buckeye to fall in singles play, losing 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 to Tom Blackwell.
